Surely the only thing that matters is whether we as shareholders are seeing good value in the purchase of XCD and whether or not we can realise any benefits out of the purchase in a reasonable timescale, Dr Stephen Staley who may or may be not impartial, but I suspect has an eye on his reputation considers the purchase reflects value for 88E shareholders.

Must admit I would like more about future operational plans and how we intend to finance those plans, if the take over happens what will take priority, next winter has to happen!

XCD have leases, have historic 2D and on that basis have and independent assessment of 1.6B barrels of oil (prospective resources) so just like us value is a forward looking statement and depends on many factors.
One thing is clear Alaska is a tough place and success will not come overnight.

Jiddy the appeal has been in progress in Feb 2019 and that is an "expedited" process that is supposed to speed up the process from the normal 2 years or so, still keeps the judiciary in black gowns!
As I have said before the economics of exploration on the North Slope changed dramatically in 2016-17 and we have been hit hard, perhaps with hindsight we (88E) could have cut and run somewhere else but PB was still alive and Icewine#2 was to come etc. hindsight is magical.
Work out how much that debt (that no one reasonably expected) has cost us in the intervening years.

10:07 remember the majority of the tax credit is already spoken for, I reckon we could see US2M in our bank if the bonds scheme comes off, otherwise its more piecemeal payments and interest charges.

Yes you will have to realise that loss and take spread and commissions into account but you may be able to repair a little of the damage, keep an eye open on here and take advantage if any good news creates some upwards momentum, no one is trapped but it has to be your decision.
At the moment you can look beyond AIM for growth I believe due to the depressed state of the market in general, a decision to reduce the scope of the lock down could have a very positive effect.
Just be careful even some of the stocks lauded on here by others have not always proved runaway trains.
As for the HRZ yes it's full of hydro-carbons but how mature and how easy to get out, at the moment we do not know for sure at the moment, the company remains constant in its view that it is viable but nothing certain in oil exploration as we have found.

Like you I have concerns about the timing, the worth of Peregrine (will it justify the dilution) and ultimately our ability to may hay quickly, we have a lot of unfulfilled projects and Alaska is not a forgiving place for junior explorers, even those in production just look at BRPC, but do we have the full story yet?
