Auson - I don't have numbers to disprove you as I sold my Meta at Q3 after the massive jump so haven't kept up to date with their results (only a shame I didn't invest more there and less here :( ) but I don't think I was wrong in what I said about big tech pivoting towards margin capture?

JC - Wise words re detaching yourself, we all go through it, that stock that keeps you up at night. Wishing you the best.

JCJ - Agreed on your second point mate, which I think was evident back in Q3 when tech revenue was falling, but tech whopper clients like Meta were recording record ad revenue.

My major concern here is that the growth at all costs mindset of the tech sector appears to be behind us and we have entered a phase of improving margins. I suspect that big tech will continue to shrink in terms of revenue segmentation. Hopefully S4 can offset this with growth and new clients in other sectors.

Buff - I'd add that probably a bigger impact than savings would be that bonds should become less attractive and hopefully we will see some big money drift back over from equities into assets.

Purely anecdotal but for what its worth I use the local Uni's gym and noticed plenty of the students seem to wear Boo Man.

It would certainly be nice to have another big buyer.

Probably not in terms of business fundamentals, although Debs looks promising. I do think we will see some macro improvement further into 2024, likely once we get the first rate cuts and equities start to look less lucrative compared to assets. Also we have the Frasers wildcard which will be interesting.

Kara - Fair enough mate. I get that you didn't want to invest more into a stinker of a stock, we have all likely been there before!

Kara - I have been consolidating also but differently, buying at 33p and trimming at 39-40p. I feel like it is a bit safer than shorting re the potential for a good update. or a macro shift.

BDF - Didn't we also get announcement re official recession to offset any inflation positivity?

I thought this was oversold too, but then again I'm on a 45% loss, so what do I know.

Am I wrong in thinking that 2024 was forecast to have positive FCF? From my point of view, things look pants right now, but so long as we aren't hemorrhaging cash then I will likely hold for the long-term and hopefully better times.

Yes this is very true.

I am not so sure on the BOO investment just being a hedge though. His previous MO seems to be buying up struggling brands on the cheap to fit into his department store model. I think it's fair to say Frasers make better profits on owned brands than the brands they just stock.

At current mcap it could be worth buying for the plethora of intellectual property.

Thank you for the response bdf. I just think that pattern is indicative of a share that has a decent short interest and quite a bit of bearish sentiment with only one big buyer. I just don't see how you guys see manipulation here....

Tend to agree. Market downturns are the times when vulture capitalists like to open the chequebook but the golden share and the above sentiment likely blocks any chances.

I still think this would be an excellent takeover target for US equity, with the extremely low valuation when looking at the revenue times mcap. Plus the AI expertise.

Double edged sword though, at least those heavily down here aren't being forced to sell at losses by a hostile takeover. Silver linings and all that.

Technically yes, but reporting to both over the years, I find the lines end up blurring a lot!

Yes he is old but why does that result in him needing to go? Lets be fair I see the main reasons I see for him to remain as senior level management due are 1) his experience and 2) his connections. All interviews he is very on the ball and for me his age doesn't appear to hamper his abilities and thus I still believe he is a good fit for the role. Getting that succession plan finalised will be beneficial and a good safety net IMO.

Bdf - What evidence do you have that it is being walked down to accommodate him? Surely since he the only big buyer, he can just wait for the price he wants?

Paulleydee - I agree, it was the new CFO that swang the sentiment change for me. I have had a boo position that I have been tranche trimming and rebuying for a while now, but recently stopped to fully hold.

I suspect it has been on the cards for a while now and the aggressive buying by Frasers has been the catalyst.

That said I would of expected a little more buying from the Kamanis so maybe this is all just a damp squib. Time will tell I guess.

Better than being trapped down in the 30s though at least. Better to recoup some of your loss.

Personally, I could see this happening. Current SP is about 40% of the IPO price and the business has expanded operations and its portfolio significantly since that time. If the shareholders had the equity and belief that margins will improve going forward it would be quite a good opportunity. Time will tell I guess.

Reardon - Hopefully. Frasers are 72% of the way to that 30% mark. Things will get interesting when/if they start nearing that ownership level.

I have been on this board for several years now and never once claimed conspiracy or manipulation, in fact I usually argue against said comments. My point was and is this has been happening repeatedly and this I can understand the posters who think this since it has become quite a regular occurrence.

Maybe try to understand a posters point before just signing mud on here. Then again your first few posts on here were just to attack people, so as SPK says....troll.

I can understand why some think conspiracy here. Every time there is a bit of positive momentum an article trashing BOO pops up like clockwork 🤔

I assume it's more media clickbait, but still it has happened so many times these last few years
