Sunak is belatedly realising what most people were saying last September when Truss and Mogg were on about Putin and North Sea security. i.e. Offshore Energies UK were lobbying this point to Govt ministers 12 months ago that our North Sea reserves mean the UK can protect itself -- provided we invest -- as well as building the low-carbon systems for the future.

Whether you agree with them or not Mogg and Truss got the point made by Offshore Energies UK about linking the future of the North Sea to the way out of the current crisis by reviving the fossil fuel industry even as the country seeks to transition to clean energy. They were then booted out and this was halted.

At the time Offshore Energies UK had identified £26 billion ($30 billion) of potential investments in the North Sea by the end of the decade that would enable the UK to meet about half its demand for oil and gas from domestic supplies. Without these projects, fuel demand would be met increasingly by imports. It's only taken 11 months for the current Govt to wake up and smell the coffee about the huge potential we are sitting on in the North Sea....

More good news from MGC today:

*First import approval of psilocybin under the collaboration with Psyence

* First entry into the psilocybin market

* Enhances ambitions to be one of the first companies to provide Psilocybin treatments alongside its plant-based treatments

The key point here is that major pharma companies will be increasingly taking note of MGC as according to a recent Bloomberg report the global psychedelic therapeutics market was valued at US$ 3.61 billion in 2021 and it is expected to reach US$ 8.31 billion by 2028, with a CAGR of 13.2% during the forecast period of 2023-2028.

Patience is all that is required....

Yes and don't forget also that Janssen will be very up to speed on how effective SNG001 is from all the Universal data. It would be much easier for SNG to licence this out to Janssen or ANother major pharma moving forward . I'm expecting news soon as we were briefed back in April that preparations were underway for trials to initiate in H2 2023. We are now in that timeframe...

The trend over the last 2 years from results to Ex Div day is a 10% rise in the BARC share price which would take BARC to 170p+ on 10th August:

* July 27th - Aug 11th 2022 BARC climbed from 150p to 171p

* July 28th - Aug 12th 2021 BARC climbed from 167p - 185p

Lets hope the trend continues for a 3rd year ....

Exactly. Most businesses that post a Q1 profit up by 11% would have seen their share price rise! It's not a small amount either: £536 million profit in Q1. Plus revenue up 4% & EBITDA up 5%. This has got to be factored in at some stage soon by the markets. We are talking about a multi billion business here that is very profitable...

It's very likely that today's 8am knee jerk share price negativity will be replaced by a positive vibe about the whopping 22% rise in pre-tax profit to £4.5bn and BARC's net interest margin increasing to an excellent 3.2%. Today's reaction is pretty predictable in the current climate but once these numbers are digested the realisation that this is a money making machine will see the SP re-trace. We might even close up today! 200p a share by the end of the year is still a real possibility....

Amazing share price reaction so far today bearing in mind:

* Revenue is up 4% to £5.2bn,

* EBITDA is up 5% at £2.0bn,

* & Q1 profit is up by 11% at £536m.

Yes, with ITV Studios increasing revenue by 8% (reaching £1 billion in H1 for the first time) and digital revenue up 24%, (and ahead of plan) the numbers look good. Interim divi of 1.7p....

Yes, the likely Kenya news and TLW's guidance of over 800 million of free cash flow between 2023 to 2025 is being well received by the market. A rise to 40p a share looks to be coming soon and then we should be heading towards 60p a share prior to eventually hitting £1 a share within the next 12 months.

Yes, I agree 75p to 80p a share by year end based on the numbers / guidance outlined today. Lloy is ooking good along with BARC for a sustained rise over the next 12 months. Good luck, Brighty

Robust numbers from Lloy today and they are enhancing the 2023 guidance too:

* Statutory profit after tax of £2.9 billion

* Net income of £9.2 billion up 11 per cent

* Strong return on tangible equity of 16.6 per cent in the first half of 2023 and 13.6 per cent in the second quarter

• Statutory profit after tax in the second quarter of £1.2 billion

* Interim ordinary dividend of 0.92 pence per share, up 15 per cent

Divi could have been 1p but overall excellent.

It's worth pointing out, again, that ITV has a highly cash generative advertising business. Let's hope that in addition to the growth messaging regarding ITV Studios & digital media that Andy Cosslett advises our CEO to talk up the TOTAL value of our business this time. Too many times in the past positive messaging has been squandered . ITV is massively undervalued currently and surely the BOD recognise that they need to raise their game moving forward. There's a cracking story to be told here. So, come on Chairman Andy Cosslett it's time to get a grip of this drift in our share price once and for all. Whatever it takes....

134 share trades in GFIN already today. The average until mid last week was under 20 trades a day. John Story and Robert Keith hold approx 29.3% of GFIN. As you say this could go x 4/5 on good news or even x 10 on big news. Lets hope for the latter....

A revision in the EBITDA margin of 1% is hardly anything. Revenue is a vanity game. It's all about EBITDA and from today's RNS that's hardly been impacted. SFOR now guiding at 14.5-15.5% EBITDA , as opposed to 15-16%. No worries if Sir Martin can achieve circa 15% Full Year EBITDA. This will be a cracking result. Crazy days today. Calm heads required...

There was an article about a 200p takeover price for JUST in Investors Chronicle a few months ago. A takeover is what I'm expecting in due course and probably north of 200p a share based on these numbers. Anyway, the market clearly like the update which in turn should help move the share price over 100P a share again soon. However, I'm waiting for the 200p a share takeover...Good luck, Brighty

It's much better to see caution than hype at last from SFOR. Sir Martin is managing expectations sensibly after last year. Ofcourse, come the full year he will then be able to trumpet results above expectations. He's a master at this and he's advising as much with this messaging:

*"As in prior years, 2023 will again be SIGNIFICANTLY second half weighted reflecting our seasonality".

The fact that SFOR is now guiding a like-for-like operational EBITDA margin of 14.5-15.5%, as opposed to 15-16% previously looks positive. Anything above 15% by year end will be heralded as a huge success in this sector in this economy. I'm happy with these numbers....

The 60% increase today in the GFIN share price would indicate that potentially something significant could be brewing here. Robert Keith, for those that don’t know is a serious player. He is the hi-tech investor best known for Eidos (Lara Croft) and holds 318,477,778 shares in GFIN (12.02%). I do wonder if an MBO or bid at a bargain basement price is being planned? Between them it would appear that John Story and Robert Keith hold approx 29.3% of GFIN. This could go x 4/5 or even x 10 on the right kind of news. One to watch....

Up 60% so far today. Robert Keith's holding in GFIN is as far as we know approx 12.02%. The average Keith / Charles Street hold (based on disclosed TR1's) looks to be 1.5p. Also, Keith / Charles Street were paying 5p a share approx back in 2021 for their GFIN shares. What price to take it private....?
