Hi Weathergeek and I agree.
However, after a few chuckles you start to realise that huge numbers of people invest in these shares with no personal research, very little knowledge of how the markets work, what to watch out for and lack basic financial acumen. It's worrying how naive some people are and I seriously hope that they realise that all small cap stocks are fraught with danger.
A classic today has been all the mentions of AIM, MM's and the games they play. This is a SETS stock automatically traded on the main market and there are no MM's. It's pretty fundamental to understand something like that in my opinion.
I'm in most of the Covid stocks that have been mentioned on here today but I expect some of them to fail. For that reason I will not put all my eggs in one basket.
Anyway, I do not want to see people caught out, particularly if they are investing more than they can afford to lose. And remember, any leveraging (e.g. shorting shares or spread-betting) rapidly gets out of hand if you get it wrong. The websites supplying such services have to by law state what percentage of retail accounts lose money, usually a figure between 65 and 80%!).
Don't get me wrong, have fun by all means. I really enjoy the boards and seeing something like Syme take off. But keep it real folks. You invest in BP, Astrazenica and the National Grid, you take a punt on penny shares with no guarantees.........and you may get lucky occasionally :-)
