Had put a stop to sell at 116p before US market open thinking the yanks might take Glen up by 2 or 3%. It got taken out before uS opened as markets not happy with any liquidity pumping. 5% ain't bad...need some luck also like the US fed news incidentally coming in. Always worth keeping 30% cash in hand in volatile market to trade quick. Learnt it the hard way over the years as I did have patience to keep some in cash. Always tend to use stops if I can't monitor SP due to work and today it paid off both ways.
Fira we are having a great laugh in the staff canteen here about you looking for"railway sleeper for the kitchen garden" mrs "not knowing top from bottom of plant"
Jeez I enjoy the sense of humor you guys have had over the years on the board.

Had place order for 100k at 110p this morning based on previous lowest price of 111.6p. Got email alert of orders filled and had a break at work to pick up more after that. Had sold a part of my other stock as usual at open this morning and had cash.
Bought 200k at average 110.45p now on drop. Having cash on sidelines helps. Good for short trade.
Interesting article from Friday. Think Glen should preserve some cash

With the political rivalry in USA the Senate vote failed to pass stimulus package. Dow -950, S&P -115, has hit circuit breakers already.
Looks like stimulus package will not get through till wednesday possibly as voting onsite in Senate needed. No remote voting yet with senate working off site and isolating, quaranatining.
Sadly china did not change or was held responsible for devastation after SARS in 2002. Now Covid followed exactly due to same problem and unaccountable Chinese CP government and power hungry leaders who delayed action and suppressed genuine whistle blowers. When will the world wake up to question the perpetrators and sue Chinese government for loss of life and earning.
If BoJo calls for mandatory lockdown market sentiments will worsen.
Need to give a thought

This is again lab based test .Xpert® Xpress SARS-CoV-2* 45 minutes it states. Just like all tests it has to go from Doctor office to the lab . Falls into same category as all the PCR RNA tests. Delay of results is turn around time for all current tests. Primer is 90 to 120 minutes.
You got to buy their machines GeneXpert II, IV, XVI, Infinity 48, Infinity 80, and Xpress Systems or have it in local labs which will be much much lesser than the standard PCR machines. It is not compatible like primer kit on universal machines available in local hospital labs.

All the approvals so far have been given to big time labs in US which produced the covid-19 kits themselves.
The last 2 before Primer design were given Grant's in USA and had it approved within 1 week of submission.
Great to see this small time British company do well in USA. Thought Orangeman would interfere in approval due to french connection after the huge 2B euro fine on Apple.

The Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) within ASPR will provide approximately $679,000 to DiaSorin Molecular, LLC of Cypress, California, to rapidly develop the Simplexa COVID-19 Direct Assay, and approximately $598,000 to QIAGEN LLC of Germantown, Maryland, to accelerate development of the QIAstat-Dx RPS2 test for COVID-19. The companies will provide the remaining funds for developing their respective diagnostic tests.
Last line cut off was......daytrade can understand and relate to what I am saying.
Sadly many still goddamn dont understand the difference between yearly flu and Covid. Yearly flu spreads slowly over the cold months and vaccine covers a large number in population. The demand for beds in hospital is gradual curve and hospitals world over can cope under duress but still cope knocking off good number of elective surgeries etc.
Covid-19 is a different unseen beast, spreads easily and rapidly at 10 to 20 degree temp. Elderly and immunocompromised end up with serious infections and need not just ward based care but intensive care with ventilators etc. If Covid is not controlled the surge in hospital bed demand is so huge the system cannot cope. In this monstorous demand younger patients die with the old as this kills more easily than the flu destroying the lungs.
Imagine you take your family members to hospital in critical state and one brother 45 years old has 2 kids and another 40 year has no kids, they give the last ventilator spot to the former and let the latter on ward to die. This is what is happening in Italy. Read these horror stories or facts to realise covid surge on hospital demand is huge and rationing is occurring sadly and you will not understand till you face it or a healthcare prof has to make that Godplayer call.
If lockdown of cities dont occur spread will be rapid and epidemiologist predict flu death will be a small number in comparison to Covid 19. China controlled the surge by locking down half a billion.....one cannot imagine this number.
For example in USA as many as 200,000 to 1.7 million people could die.
And, the calculations based on the C.D.C.’s scenarios suggested, 2.4 million to 21 million people in the US could require hospitalization, potentially crushing the nation’s medical system, which has only about 925,000 staffed hospital beds. Fewer than a tenth of those are for people who are critically ill. Hospital stay on average is 7 days unless you die early. Multiply that by 5 million low case scenario to see bed days required.
With all elective surgeries cancelled patients with for example non bowel cancer issues, or other serious pain related problems are left to suffer for months on end. Cancer testing and targets takes a backseat with poorer outcomes at a later stage. If you have excruciating dental pain suffer silently for a month of two. The list of suffering goes on and on.
Flu will not make millions to go unemployed enmasse. You guys are all privileged to have your home and type away on this board with luxury of sitting with money lost patiently with the SP drop waiting for it to recover. Millions out there are suffering without any earning. You dont have to worry of healthcare professionals getting killed treating covid patients, in the comfort of this board talking about Glen or Kaz. And please get this in you goddamn head.... doctors and nurses dont frickin die treating flu patients. Period!!!
Have taken my rage out with the ignoramus. Apologies . Daytrade can un
Last night said minnow Novacyt share price will be same as a Giant commodity trader and producer soon to get an idea for comparison for those intending to hold long. Here we are this evening.
Glencore 117.3p - Market cap 13.1b, Large debt of 38B with debt to equity ratio 0.72%
Novacyt 117p market cap 79M No debt
Novacyt Base stabilised 115p to 120p currently. Rest in that last post
1. This is still an "EARLY technology that’s coming out of a lab, which means that there are still a number of steps required before it becomes approved for broad use."
2.The biggest impact of this test, "SHOULD IT PROVE EFFECTIVE TO SCALE", is that it manages to sidestep some of the existing limiting factors that apply to the existing early test methods. (so still needs testing and validation)

Yes in long term shares will recover but recovery on average after a bear market is 2 years for recovery. Time they suspended short trading like in Spain for a month like the circuit breakers.
Worried as a health care sector employee just a matter of time before I contract the covid 19 despite all protection and hope outcome will not end up with long lasting residual damage. Wishing ken et al all good health. Daytrade take care, can understand your difficult times of over 100 days stay in hospital on and off.

Just to clarify.....in past price fluctuation was from 80p to 220p over 3 days.....drop to 70p to 190p 1 week. These large jumps over few days is casino style. SP rising to £2 over 2 months (120p to 200p) with additional sales and rerating. £3 if there is licensing of kits to a major lab looking for shorter test time or private labs or big outsourcing of manufacturing of kits in USA (which might be in play with oem signed)
Ok most of us got into this stock in February or March and probably no holder over a year here.
Currently stock price is being influenced by 10% drop in UK pound compared to other currencies over last month. This influences purchase of material and 3rd party contracts and sharing of profits.
2 weeks ago with RNS price base was between 100p to 110p.
Last weeks RNS got a steady base of 115p to 120p now. This is good and based on current earnings disclosed. Good news also is it will not fluctuate madly to break 1£.
This is a very good company with strong Fundamentals and deserves better rating going forward and regular trading rather than a pump and dump stock. Those of us who are interested in the long term prospect would like to see this stock gradually or the next 2 months 2 or 3 pounds with solid base building. Those in it for a casino style investment will be disappointed by lack of dramatic jumps of first 2 weeks of Feb.
Primer design have capability to bring in a quick antibody field test, just wait and see. They mentioned at start they are researching for a quicker test than the current one also.
Company is gaining a name in new markets boosting bottom line in the long term.
So for a moment think ...very soon this stock will have the same SP of Glencore the once mighty trading company.
Experiment in Vò underscores WHO’s message to ‘test, test, test’
All 3,300 inhabitants of the town of Vo’ were tested and retested for coronavirus
© AP Financial Times March 17, 2020 3:26 pm by Donato Paolo Mancini and Clive Cookson in London
An infection control experiment that was rolled out in a small Italian community at the start of Europe’s coronavirus crisis has stopped all new infections in the town that was at the centre of the country’s outbreak.
Through testing and retesting of all 3,300 inhabitants of the town of Vò, near Venice, regardless of whether they were exhibiting symptoms, and rigorous quarantining of their contacts once infection was confirmed, health authorities have been able to completely stop the spread of the illness there.
Andrea Crisanti, an infections expert at Imperial College London who is taking part in the Vò project while on sabbatical at the University of Padua, urged countries that have been limiting virus testing, which includes the UK and US, to learn lessons and ramp up the numbers of people being screened.
“In the UK, there are a whole lot of infections that are completely ignored,” Prof Crisanti told the Financial Times. “We were able to contain the outbreak here because we identified and eliminated the ‘submerged’ infections and isolated them,” he said of the Vò approach. “That is what makes the difference.”
The success underscores the importance of testing and isolating otherwise healthy carriers, an approach that has been strongly endorsed by the World Health Organization. The WHO this week urged all countries to test aggressively, noting that South Korea and Taiwan were having success in limiting infections by doing so. “Our key message is: test, test, test,” Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO chief, said on Monday.

I have a dilemma.
I have a cough.
I’m a junior doctor, currently working in an emergency assessment unit. My cough is minor, and it’s March, so quite common to get a cough... but how do I know it’s not COVID-19? The truth is I don’t.
So now I have to ask... do I stay off work for 7 days, leaving a shortfall of staff and putting further strain on the already strained NHS, when the likelihood is that I don’t actually have COVID-19?
OR, do I go to work with my minor cough (as I would normally) and risk potentially spreading COVID-19 to all of the sicker patients I see on a daily basis?
This same dilemma is being faced by ALL NHS workers, including the cleaners (who are the unsung heroes in all of this!) Currently, tests are only being done on patients who require hospital admission. This virus will cause minor symptoms for most people, and relatively young and healthy staff are most likely to fall into that category. The issue is the patients we treat are not healthy, they are frail and vulnerable. Ask yourself this- if your loved one needs hospital care for a condition not related to Covid-19, would you want them to be treated by staff who are likely infected with it? If not, please help us out here.
We WANT to stay in work. We are YOUR National Health Service. We are proud to serve but we need some common sense here...
I am petitioning for prioritisation of testing for NHS staff... so that those who need to stay away do so, with a clear conscience, and those who can work can do so, with a clear conscience.
