I did a similar sweep at BP where they had a dealing room under by Lord Cobbold. The dealers were reticent to subscribe but did, and by the end of the group phase, whence many had bitten the dust, they almost begged me to start a new competition for the knock out phase! In 4 years time I will hopefully have made my mini-fortune on TLOU and I will be on a board that is more receptive to a bit of fun.

bts, I wonder whether GG has to present himself to the Botswana Govt as someone who cares about Botswana more than making a personal fortune from this venture? And maybe he does?

Just amalgamated the cash that I did not commit to extra shares into my ISA and bought at 5.95p

Should have tried to get them on the offer but took a chance price would drop below 5.75p

They have said they will be preparing 3 pods THIS YEAR!

What more can they do if the Botswana Govt are taking forever to get this going?
The lack of a decision is hardly impacting on us because of our proactive approach.
The confirmation looks to be forthcoming unless they decide they don't want the energy anymore?
That seems unlikely, but the pods will take longer to produce than the Govt decision so the only downside is the small risk we are wasting time and time on a 'dead' project, in which case our gamble on TLOU has failed big time.

For me 6 months is a very short time compared to my other investments.

JTD I am not worried either - Tony knows the business and has done it before. He just needs to negotiate the bureaucracy in place within a country that looks to be learning as they go along. The change of government has put the learning curve back to its axis in all likelihood.
I was not clear which minister GG was referring to but I guess it is a new energy minister rather than the President himself. Possibly applies to both.

His timings all seem a little vague but the remarks about minister being surprised at the seemingly ack of progress rang true? Hope so.

Independent Power Producers (IPPs) or non-utility generator (NUG) are private entities (under unbundled market), which own and or operate facilities to generate electricity and then sell it to a utility, central government buyer and end users. IPPs may be privately-held facilities, cooperatives or non -energy industrial concerns capable of feeding excess energy into the system.[1] [2]

IPPs invest in generation technologies and recover their cost from the sale of the electricity. They can be great help to country's energy sector (especially when the public sector do not have the required financial capacity for investment).

The above looks more like an advert for an engineer in the first instant, and lord knows what in the other?
IPP is neither of the two bidders so are they preparing a "takeover" of one or both depending upon the govt decision? It may well be considered a vote of confidence in the project but I stress I know little of the machinations in this industry.

Importing LNG to generate electricity (in the short to medium term was my inference) was interesting. How much better to have gas on tap , assuming those imports are across seas? It was encouraging how low key his reference to Botswana was. Made it sound like the regional demand is every bit as high as Tony lead us to believe yonks ago.

I suspect that the current placing results from the Govt's requirements on the first tender.
If we could easily produce 100Mw from the first site we may not have needed to expedite the second site?

If the re-tender process reduces the requirement to 10Mw then I guess Tony and Co will be happy can be achieved from Lesedi.
If they insist upon the higher power ratings then we are now in a better place to fill it ahead of the opposition given work is underway for both sites.

We have a head start on the timings and I think the placing is there to maintain it. But this is only guesswork.

Our BOD could have sat on their hands and not had a placement or plans to expand the current operation sooner than planned.

Had they done so it is not unreasonable to assume that the share price would be higher than it is now, which will have kept some of us happy.

But they have decided to bring forward excavations at a second site and need to fund it.
Investing in two mines rather than one could be considered a better deal, especially because it displays a good degree of confidence in going forward.

We are invited to invest in the bigger venture at a preferential price - it looks a bit like Xmas to me!

Looks like Jarvis are not charging commission on placement purchase.
