Botswana signs $12 billion investment deal with Qatar's Al Mansour Holdings

Botswana's President Duma Boko announced on Thursday an agreement with Qatar's Al Mansour Holdings, aimed at addressing immediate national challenges, with the Gulf firm committing to $12 billion in investments in various economic sectors.

The rat smell has improved no end! Qatar version looks loaded and intent on Southern Africa just like Saint Tony did a decade before them.

I don't understand the figures for this Egyptian investment group.

12Billion is twice what the company is worth , and they look like they are a tobacco producer, and a food retailer via their Metro chain of food stores.

So is Botswana a great environment for tobacco plants? The population of 2m are hardly going to justify many Metro stores so is Botswana just going to be their base for Southern Africa? And Egypt is presumably their base in Northern Africa? I smell a rat , what other plants are suited to Botswana's climate I wonder? Perhaps it is not a rat?

We know from Kala that Botswana is a good base for international trade on certain taxes.

And added costs to bring them back if we could survive the pandemic for which there was no vaccine so it could last for many years.

Doc and the Pension fund rescued us, and now Kala and Boko will rescue them and everybody concerned in TOU's future. And if Botswana is the place of doom and gloom as the prize pratt suggests just look at Boko smiling at another Arab deal.....

I am having fun with the Met Police camera team and an insurance company fraud department.

My house does not have a number (that I know of) so goes by the name, which is also the name of a UK village!

I believe a guy who lives in that village , filled in his car insurance application without a postcode!

And the automatic lookup found my house name and used my post code etc.

So his two rather nice vehicles are on an insurers' database as being at my house!

I received a voicemail telling me that this was being investigated by the insurance company. I tried calling him back but the number he used was outward bound calls only!

Then I got post from Royal Mail to a crazy address which ended with my housename and postcode?

There was a PO BOX number on it so I circled that and put return to sender on the envelope!

Then the Inspector Clusseau in me arose, and I found someone with his name who worked not far from the village/house name , so I added a scribble that he might live at a postcode in that village and posted it!

Next day I received an identical letter properly addressed this time but with the same name on it!

I could not see much point in returning that one too so I kept it unopened and forgot about it.

Over the weekend, I received a letter to the occupier at my address.

It was from a fraud dept and showed me two Policy numbers and the models of car that they were checking.

I opened the other letter and found an intention to prosecute from the Met!

I found WASheet which sells itself as a cost saver on Phone bills whilst managing bulk messages through WA.

It has a paid version with lots more functionality but I'd like to run it for free so that people could use a copy of my solution. There must be so many animals at risk if their sole housemate cannot care for them.

As for gas quality and volumes , I saw a response to a post on Hot Copper.

The responder saw that a viable option for TLOU is to buy Solar panels , and feed the grid along the transmission and distribution lines, rendering CBM and its gas content irrelevant while Solar power up to 25MW can be delivered without dewatering problems.

Expenditure on gas has precluded the buying and installation of Solar , but if Kala are willing there is the possibility of TLOU concentrating on Solar , leaving the flared gas to Kala to process for the data centre.

And TLOU can add CBM powered electricity at a much later date. After additional Tx and Distribution lines are completed. Like Winni said , there are quite a few possibilities for progress and most rely on Kala honouring their pledge to fund us interest free.

During Covid Kala were looking for several burned out oil fields with methane being flared , and needed several no doubt because they came with no guarantees of how long the methane would last.

Building a permanent Data Centre would not make sense for the same reason.

At Lesedi they are virtually guaranteed 40 years of gas at ever increasing volumes for the first decade or two, enough land for massive Data Centres , subject to planning permissions maybe , but would they need other sites? Enough I need to secure Poppy's future now.

What are these unknowns Winni?

I think itissafe to assume that Kala , from UAE , has enough backing from there to complete Lesedi, Mamba and Boomslang from petty cash. And a pipeline to Orapa as well?

They are committed to TLOU having ordered and paid for equipment to use the current gas flares.

They also made the cost of drilling more wells and improving the existing wells the #1 priority.

The biggest unknown is whether all that was BS???? Having chased TLOU since Covid and Lockdowns I am convinced the are bona fide. Since March they have followed up 100% , showing a sense of urgency that TLOU could never afford due to lack of funding.

These two companies were made for each other , I despair that people do not see that! Whatever one does, the other benefits from. TLOU appear to be fully funded and can press on regardless now. We just need to hear that Kala are as good as their word. And they need TLOU with all that land, all that gas, and a record of being honest imho!

The only scenario that worries me is that Kala have set us up competely!

We press on , we owe them money ,and then they pull the plug on further finance!

We'd be high and dry and would have to fold. Kala woud buy up the scraps if that is legal but their reputation would be shot and as would the chances of further partnerships. I think there is more chance of Bots predictions coming true than that. Colm and the Doc and GG will have met the Kala , as will TG I hope , and what they offer is so crazily too good to be true - that they'd have been very suspicious. But it all makes sense and , against the odds , TLOU have found the perfect partner, as have Kala.

So the 200k shares someone was intent on giving away will deplete in maybe 20 minutes.

I am going to take a back seat , as Winnie suggests , and await news that Kala have replicated their trial in Jan/Feb successfully. I am averaging 1.48c so my forecast of 3.5c as soon as Kala are in business will make the torture so far feel worthwhile. And from 3.5c, I expect 6c to be next. Those are the values of the Doc's and the Pension Funds convertible debt. It remains to be seen whether TLOU will issue shares at those prices or cough up the money plus interest. The Doc did not loan the final amount of over 2m , because I think TLOU would prefer to borrow from Kala. But we'll wait and see.

With no interest to pay , missing a repayment is open for discussion.

Sharia law does not allow lenders to profit from penalty payments which are permitted!

Our repayments are from our share of the lenders profits - so we are totally in their hands!

It is hard to imagine that TLOU will be penalised for Kala failing to earn a profit .... the missed repayment simply extend the loan period I guess.

TLOU earnings from elsewhere , the PPA.

I think we split the profit 50-50 with Kala.

I'm interested to see whether Kala just take repayments from their 50% so TLOU keep will all their 50%.

Or whether up to 75% of our 50% will be required to top up the repayments.

My optimistic self thinks the former from the mission statement.

But whether TLOU will be allowed to deliver the PPA if conditions favour Kala producing that power, instead of Data Centre outlets . A bit thorny but this will have been agreed I reckon to the satisfaction of both companies.

I assume the same price applies to both Kala and Tlou. BUT Tlou built the TX line and their price is expected to reflect an allowance from BPC for being gifted the TX lines etc.. Hopefully BPC see Kala and Tlou as one entity for billing purposes, and the dream does not become a nightmare.

Andrew's podcasts were a long series , carrying on from another presenter whose name I don't remember.

A young girl did one ot two after Andrew left but I guess the news flow had dried up as the project expanded to include Tx lines, and everything else leading up to them being utilised. We only needed a bottling plant and the same old story, more gas! But in those days we would have been able to use the gas soon.

And the gas composition was more significant because the bottling, transportation, and unbottling of harmful gasses was much greater risk than merely burning it and handling the emissions (which was already an issue for the dual fuel generators anyway). It has been a good switch , though some of us have lost years from the few we may have left, because the bottling for lorry journeys would not have enabled Solar energy in the slightest. We are much better equipped to be successful now with Data Centre, CBM based energy and Solar energy at our finger tips. And Solar energy may increase the amount of CBM energy we supply to the grid because Kala might be able to make us of it at Lesedi. They would have the choice of ready made power from either of TLOU's sources, or gas to generate their own power as they intend to do (with Tlou providing on site electricity which they probably already have).

On Hot Copper , donkey seemed to think the Data Centre needed Serowe!

The partnership exists so Kala have an independent source of energy that is cheaper tahn unreliable national grids. Donkey is so occupied with corruption and the like , and ridiculing me , that he misses the MOST OBVIOUS PLUSSES , which helps his cause in his own tiny mind.

Another PLUS is Solar power from Lesedi will not suffer power loss reaching Kala - another bonus for the partnership.

Power loss in transmission lines is generally low, around 2% over long distances, according to Inside Energy.

Distribution lines, which carry electricity over shorter distances, experience higher losses, around 4%.

So TLOU will benefit for delivering to Kala locally , 2% on Tx lines , and 4% on distribution , a bonus for both!

More power for Kala, and higher earnings from that extra power for TLOU.

The longer I look the better this partnership gets!!! If the Data Centre takes off big time , I can see TLOU dedicating Lesedi to Kala and connecting the TX lines to Mamba and/or Boomslang. We have gained 6% of our power if BPC pay us for what they deliver to customers , or 2% if they pay for what they receive at Serowe. May the Lord make them truly thankful.

I simply followed what TG and TLOU have told us over the years and , like the Back to the Future film, I could not find a discrepancy in anything done or said. We had the benefit of those staged interviews with Andrew Scott for several years until he left Proactive Investments for pastures new. They were invaluable in making a judgement on TG.

Bots declared that Andrew was told what to ask by TG , and he was merely a puppet - hence the word staged!

It was possibly true but Andrew fooled me into thinking he was asking genuine questions because he asked what I'd have asked, some suggesting irregularities but TG always passed with flying colours.

The guy is as honest as the day is long imho. His words and actions have been consistent forever. He said he would not call on us for funds as much as possible , and he has honoured that pledge. In the early days, progress was very fast. Everybody seemed to be pulling their weight to get CBM into the dual fuel power stations. Selemo was dewatered in a couple of months of TLOU taking over and gas from Lesedi within 18 months looked possible.

And then the poxy PPA was voiced! TG was never keen on it. And I will go to my grave believing it only surfaced because KE/Seka wanted a firm order from Botswana so their non-existent shareholders would be enticed into investing in them!!! And from there it turned into a shambles and somehow the mission changed from bottled gas to turn-key electricity at the National Grid. It all coincided with my wife's heath problems so I was nowhere near as vigilant as I'd been before.

Any irregularities that came from TG were induced by the catastrophes that followed.

The RFP , that TLOU never wanted , was flawed.

The pandemic, that nobody wanted, and unexpected dewatering problems at Lesedi , all combined to destroy the bottled gas plan.

The options in particular suffered because 2 yrs for bottled gas was feasible , but the new mission , building a power station , and linking up to the grid 100km away was clearly impossible in that time without Covid. As it was, bottled gas may not have happened either, but yet again Donkey dismissed delays as being deception from TLOU because other Botswana industries were unaffected!

What a load of baloney - the guy is crazy!

We don't have long to see if my faith is well placed , but we all know Bots views have never sensible from day 1 whatver happens. I guess Bots needs TLOU to be still unproductive in 2 years time to be proved right about TG.

That ignores as the other rubbish about Civil War, and Sekaname overtaking TLOU because TG was telling porkies about TLOU being #1 CBM provider in Botswana. An indisputable fact surely? He may have replaced Seka with Botala, to justify his hatred of Saint Tony.

That PPA 100MW caused so much confusion and TG wanted no part of it. That turned into a mistake - rewording it to the number of cubic feet of CBM for 100MW was needed! Hindsight!

Page 1 shows the commitment and dynamism of Kala. How can anybody doubt the sincerity of this project?

When the share price is in double figures people will review this period and ask themselves why they did not see the obvious and load up at prices in single figures. Selling at 2.2c is mind blowingly stupid!

If they bought at less , then even more stupid and weak, or desperate I suppose! I pity those who have to sell at the current time - this period will be one to remember as awful with the engine of the train emerging at the end of the tunnel into daylight.

The Facility will be powered by electricity generated from Tlou’s coalbed methane gas reserves, offering a secure and cost-effective solution for energy-intensive computing operations.

Initial Power Supply and Infrastructure

Kala will initially utilise gas from Tlou’s existing production wells, Lesedi 4 (L4) and Lesedi 6 (L6), to commence operations. Although these two production wells have not yet reached their anticipated gas flows, there is sufficient gas to deliver first electricity to Kala. Site works detailed below are underway and generators are being procured. First electricity to Kala is anticipated to be delivered in Aug/Sept 2025 and this will enable Kala to start generating revenue through computation.

The Facility is designed to host up to six modular 1MW data containers, with one unit planned for installation in the first development phase.

Kala has completed payment for the first data container and assembly is underway.

Delivery to site is anticipated in mid-August, with commissioning and operational start-up scheduled thereafter.

Kala will also procure and install a gas-fired generator designed to support the data container, with delivery also expected in August.

A gas gathering pipeline network to be completed from L4 and L6will feed this generator and subsequent generators as they come online.

Site Preparation

Site preparation works for the Kala site, adjacent to the Lesedi substation, have commenced and include installation of foundations, fencing, lighting, and a project office.
