In my self assessments at the time I queried howw to report my HMV losses in an "any other business" type box and never heard from them. Now I have retired I still think they expect a self assessment from (I received one reminder) despite my last one ending on February 22nd when I had to give up work due to an aneurysm in my leg.

Good stuff Damo - it is not whether you funded another ISA that matters (subject to an aggregate limit of £20k) it is when you open then as you suggest (I think0.

So you can only open one of each type of ISA per financial year and fund them all subject to the limit overall.
IG definitely have trade ISA accounts so the path is clear once I work out how much can be moved for each.

Cannot see the Chancellor introducing the sort of tactics we ar contemplating until furlough is over and people know where they stand in terms of employment - so Ill have two years to get everything into an ISA account. TG please wait until I'm sorted before announcing funding and making a capital gain before I've completed the moves :o)

I lost a small fortune on HMV (less substantial dividends) well over 4 years so thoselosses are useless?
Ialso have USOP (not on any exchange) and AVN who are private with Jenkins which are theoretically worth 20p and 12p each , having paid £2+ and £5+ respectively for them - together a small fortune! You can see why I am despaerate forTlou to succeed like those two??????

Their losses are offsettable because they are still in business and I'd argue it is a paper loss which could disappear whereas HMV is a dead loss in all respects??

Just had a Mac k/b delivered (now I have mastered using the PC/Dell from years ago! Hopefully my typing will improve once I get some new glasses. My laptop keyboard was too small for my fingers but this is a 104 key Macally which had some bad reviews - but seems worth the £38 it cost.

I am already retired so ISA is the only option. Bed and Isa with Jarvis - and maybe open an ISA with IG in April seems to be my solution - do you agree. I assue a bed and ISA at Jarvis makes that my active ISA so I cannot open a new open another this year?

I miss this sort of conversation here, SXX was much more liberal on topics such as this.

It could not happen at a worse time because I'm playing around with Proxy, Firewall and VPN on my Mac , and the same is almost happening there.

My current settings show 9:04 without reply in action.

As brokers seem to charge one transaction fee for bed and isa plus they buy back on the day and ignore settlement date, shifting between brokers will mean selling, wait for settlement, transfer cash, and buy back?

Risky on a rising sp - the alternative is to open a new ISA if the old one has not been funded?
Next question .... is bed and Isa on towo ISA's posiible?

My holding is split between 2 brokers, with one broker has an ISA and a Nominee account, and t'other only a Nominee account on multi-currencies! ASX shares cannot bed and isa so this starts to get complicated. Worth knowing though Phil if arbitrage is favourable selling ASX and buying AIM could work over a year or four? Thanks again.

BUT how long can historical losses be considered against current gains?
That is another candidate for the Chancellor - not the greatest time to sell non-ISA , move cash to ISA and buy back between brokers or do a bed and isa within the same broker?

Cross broker bed and isa may also be possible? I'll have to look that up.

IG fixed quote system (changes in busy times) is 3.89p -.
§§got Nordvpn running onthe IMAC and so far it is much more unobtrusive than on PC.
On PC I have to turn off vpn for 5 minutes to log in with password/account with automatic retrievals but not on imac! Don't understand why unless site security bypasses stuff if they see IMAC / Macos is what they are dealing with.

You probably noticed I have been absent - getting closer to god.
I saw a watch for sale at a local auction (billed as police and receivers featuring stuff from London hotels).
I set myself up to bid and and was online very early waiting for it to start.
Thoroughly enjoyed it whilst looking at an Apple Imac (lot 1) - eventually my grey cells got the better of me and I phoned my son , an IMAC enthusiast for years , to see if he thought it would ok for me?

He said my Microsoft subscription cover Office pro for mac . so yes!

Blimey I watched it sell for £45 plus 25.2% commission in about 10 seconds! Never had a chance to bid!
Eventually I bought a 24 inch one , thinking it would be modern with the large screen - wrong!

Watch reached £200 plus extras , but £220 was too much to risk on a photograph!
I was the proud owner of a computer.

(Chukkers is into IT , so might like this story , bye everyone else).

I found a 20 yr usb k/b for PC , full of dust , and used my wireless mouse! It was great, I was automatically logged into an Admin account , so I downloaded Firefox ok. Installation failed - needed me to enter my unknown password!
I'd wasted my money! I tried to familarise myself with it overnight and on Sunday I found just one document in trash!
It opened like a message from god! A contract for a care home with the owner of the Mac! Phone nos, address and all!

I phoned him, explained I need a ADMIN password, and he obliged!
He was gobsmacked it had been auctioned - it was father's machine , and he dumped it at a recycling yard!!!!!

He asked me to delete his account in case there was sensitive stuff in it. That failed! He was then worried and refused to help further - and mentioned it was probably burgled from the yard!

I explained next day that the auction house shares premises with a recycler and showedhim his Imac in the brochure.
The machine is 2009 , o/s version 11 , office needs version 13+.

To appease the previous owner I reformatted the disk to find the o/s would not re-install and the machine is kapput!

With everyone's help I have it up and working, and this is being typed on the old Dell keyboard which has freed up a bit with all the use it has had. Apple spent a whole hour bucksheee today - another strokeof luck?

And on top of that the markets are recovering. Hope BTW is feeling more upbeat .. the future is looking better for many more than the half dozen on here who have agreed with my optimism over the year.

Why? Because we are the only CBM producer (unless KE spring a surprise) and have realistic dual fuel involving solar.

I think it explains the lack of rival solar companies. They need solar plus batteries reducing their profitability, we have two stand alone source, which together will be superb for Botswana one day. Maybe even longer :O)
