Back to SM, I reckon it is just about possible that SM could announce something on Hydrogen in time to save TLOU options in June/July. It supports my theory that TLOU have hopes of getting an income from Hydrogen/Carbon before the electricity/poles/wires will. And if they can , our gas flow is unavailable for Serowe until we open more sources (partially financed by SM income source).

SM that is! I hope TG's mate at Pure Hydrogen is a true mate and has not parked SM on us for selfish reasons. Pure Hydrogen and SM have postponed their mutual plan in favour of TLOU which is in a great position to service SM's requirements. It still looks like a marriage arranged in heaven BUT IT RELIES ON SM FULFILLING THEIR SIDE OF THE PARTNERSHIP.

Rather than abandon the partnership TG has , imho , given them 15 months to get their protype working in Lesedi or we too , will put SM on hold as well! I think it is a sensible approach - provided SM are bona-fide!

With hindsight I have little doubt TG would have signed up poles/wires 6 months ago, and given SM a deadline! If we kill off the partnership NOW , SM resume their deal with Pure Hydrogen and by June have a working prototype, I know who'll be shouting loudest about the missed opportunity of a lifetime - which is how it started last year!

Whizz, if Hydrogen and Crypto were as you describe them, and our board are in this for the lifestyle , how does doing nothing benefit them?
GG bothers me , he could well be milking us, but the others are on half pay, or less, and would rather see their full wage I'm sure.
Puttig up poles/wires is on the critical path without Hydrogen or Crypto - so one or the other must be giving them some hope of coming good?

SM are based in Brisbane so we should know how they are performing.
Crypto is an unknown, but we are flaring gas , and it is undeniable we are a match for that industry , if nothing else.

You cannot believe what you claim or you'd have moved on years ago, And if you are right, I cannot see it improving so you may as well take your losses now.

It is hard to refute claims that Africa is a difficult place to start a business.
Eric supported us verbally but put the onus on Sekaname and Tlou to prove themselves, despite the evidence that there was a huge demand for power and , in TLOU's case , they had a leader who knew what was necessary from previous successes.

Lefoko was a breath of fresh air, and went beyond his duties to give us the all clear to progress with up to 2Mw for Serowe.

I don't see how he can help us more until TLOU have helped themselves, the ball is very much in our court.

TLOU have to decide which racquet is required because our next step is in the air. SM could fire up the Hydrogen project requiring Solar power, Orapa could require us to provide Gas , Crypto could take all the gas we can provide, and none of those may arise!
CBM power to Serowe is the core business but that and Orapa gas will not see a return for at least 15 months. Both Crypto and Hydrogen might just be quicker, but how realistic is it to expect either or both to materialise any time soon.

Has TLOU put off Poles and Wires because one or both fast track businesses looked likely? Neither need them!

And the $64M question now, is , "Has poles/wires been agreed because of negatives on the fast tracking option or because we cannot waste more time on the core project even if one or both looks promising?

The only certainty is TLOU will be criticised on here however it pans out.

Moagi, I have just realised that you could have justified your view in any of the many filtered posts that I have never read. Filtering is therefore an all or nothing option, and nothing is working ok currently.

Winni , Phase 1 is a major subset of Phase 2 (mutual substations,poles,wires) including 2MW generation. Bigger or extra generators, plus improved gas flows for the 10MW is "all" that is left.

I guess the 2MW actually cost a fortune over a decade or more but that figure is excluded from the Phase 1 £10M costs ...... do we know the drilling costs?

They seem to be key. I get how Moagi was thinking now. I admit I have been too relaxed over costs, thinking the current funding plus the unlikely options cash would cover my idea of the Phase 2 costs from the pesky 6m to 10m figures that I cannot find.

TLOU, as Winni suggested , won't be confused about these costs.
The 2Mw interim target was a Lefoko agreement to get the wheels rolling. It was a brilliant gesture, a great vote of confidence , the 10Mw just confuses things I think!

Once we are operational, regular "easier" expansions were always the plan, so why wasn't 10Mw just made the first one and left at that? The difference is that it can share the transmission lines from the 2MW phase I guess?

Do we know if the poles can be used for extra cables in future?

Imho, there is no Phase 1 anymore, we are going for Phase 2 immediately and I think it will cost $20M. I'm basing that on the $6M and $10M which I am about to look for in the other 115 RNS's. Now Done without any hits.

My 6M and 10M did not feature in the first 100 RNS so must go back to the very early days. So Moagi is right on the funding if you assume TLOU are not going to be earning anything in the next 15 months or so.

I don't take that as granted - SM, Orapa and Crypto could change to horizon fot that. Crypto looks least unlikely to me but in all 3 cases we are in other's hands!

Those that wanted TLOU to return their roots have their wish I am afraid.

Just found this table - it shows how many poles per mile - so the costing table makes much more sense $20k per mile looked too cheap!

$340k (17 poles) looks much more realistic per mile. But, I am expecting African costs to be lower than the US costs on every item , who knows by how much?

TG said $6M for 2Mw , rising to $10M for 10Mw if I remember rightly. I thought Moagi might have have been quoting those. I need to look back at the RNS (my other computer) to check, but I think was an all inclusive quote (substations and drilling plus poles , wires and substations). I admit to forgetting the units whether A$, US$ or £ which does not help!

17 * 20000 * 62 (miles) backs up Moagi's view that $8M is not enough and neither is $10M if that was what Tlou quoted.

How is planning for Hydrogen (the business that does not exists yet when MM and I talk TLOU) great in 2026 compared to TG expections for Green Hydrogen in 2021/2022 last autumn.

And why are the Namibian estimates going to be more fruitful than ours? TG comes from a cbm background ..... solar,wind and hydrogen combination with water (desalinated at that) looks ambitious to me!

My link shows American guidelines for single circuit wooden poles - double circuit (3 phase) are more expensive but within the budget you quote.

The price is per US mile so we do not need the BPOPF money for poles and wires by my reckoning. The substations and the resumption of drilling and dewatering might need some of it but not all, again imho with a background of A-level Physics , Pure and Applied Maths and some research into this industry.

You once denied heaat loss over 100Km was not a major factor. That is totally wrong too!

I have been pondering whether HEAT PUMPS will be a threat to TLOU and other energy providers. Tbh I did not know how HP's work but they just featured them on the news and my fears were unfounded.

It appears that HP will always need external power to drive them. Their big selling point is that for every Kw they draw upon , their refridgerating units (vacuums) , and heating pumps (pressure, as bicycle pumps demonstrate if you pump hard enough) will produce several times that KW in heat! 3Kw was mentioned.

Don't know why but I thought they depended upon the earths core temperature and you had to dig deep shafts ..... is that a different type?

Solar looks to be a great companion during daylight hours, and you need a hot water tank with a HP, which offers limited heat I suppose. So electricity storage (batteries?) or generation (gas, hydrogen, wind, tidal etc) will still be required.

TLOU look safe enough in Africa where the demand for HP looks unlikely to be high at current prices.

Last week I failed to bid for an Imac with the same spec as mine!
It was working, but my graphics card was dead!

This time with a 'buy it now' tag at the winning price of £40 plus pp - an email revealed his buyer did not pay!!!! I bought it! Posted on tuesdayin North London, delivery from Friday to next Monday!

I have set up Catalonia on it since lunchtime (Apple say it won't support that os!) and am typing tis post on it! It looks like brand new , had 2 system cds and manuals, an apple box with a handle, and even the polystyrene that takes the box for a kb which was withheld with the mouse!

I loaded this web site and true enough saw all the posts no filters!

I can only think that Apple have somehow transferred my filters from my Iphone!

I'm so chuffed , I nly wanted this for the graphics card which is unobtainable sine the Crypto revolution! People are using Graphics cards to build Crypto mining software! With a much reduced instruction set compared to a CPU, GPU's are very much faster! My younger son has friends who bought GPU based processors and are making money selling network time to help with mining! They only produce a fraction of a bitcoin for their paymasters!

Got a lot to do to get the mac up to scratch software wise! I wasn't going to upgrade the O/S but firefox for mac needs OSX 10.15+ , as does MS Office which I have licenced for several machines, so is free on the mac.

I have been trying to find potential for TLOU to create an income before CC's 15 month minimum delay.
SM prototype has been on the cards since we first heard about hydrogen. The lack of news from Brisbane does not excite me.
But is does open up an opportunity for the gas to be used by Crypto industry.

That, too, has been very quiet, but news of a meeting with TLOU was , imho , very poorly received here. TG must have felt like Chris Rock getting a slap for an inapproriate joke! If Chris did not know Jada had alopecia , and thought it was her chosen style, it was funny , confirmed by Will Smith until he realised Jada was uncomfortable.

I went through hair loss with my wife , she lost all her body hair and her teeth, so I have an idea where Will was coming from!
I suggest it was anger at his own amusement, the only thing Jada saw in the whole room! If I laughed at a joke about Liz, I would have felt mortified because she was so brave handling not just the forementioned but she lay on the floor after a fall , for hours, with a broken hip rather than shout to wake me (I was working nights).
She also had a brain tumour (Ovarian cancer) for 2 years after her hysterectomy and chemo before it produced a seizure! They removed the tumour in Southampton on the Monday , I brought her home on the Tuesday , and on the Wednesday she was cutting a beech hedge with garden shears! Steroids allowed her to lift her arms above the horizontal for the first time in months and she felt great! I worshipped her fighting stage iv cancer from 2012 to 2018 without complaint and so did anyone that knew her!

My kids did not know she had false teeth until she was hospitalised and a nurse left a denture pot in view - at her funeral , I learned that she was even reticent to tell me about them and she wore them 24 hours a day (if I wasn't in London) .

My hope is that TG is still in talks with the Crypto people and we'll have a minimum of 15 months to offer them. I also saw a plan to use the gas with an existing generator to power the dewatering pumps. Makes me wonder how they are supplied now. Diesel generators? Selemo electricity? Another electricity source?

My mistake, I read it wrong!
#3 and #4 are linked to the main seam. TLOU were merely pointing out that the dewatering on each was not being helped by existing wells elsewhere until TLOU create them.
