In terms of Ukraine, we have felt the force as much as any because of a lack of preparedness with our own energy solutions. In Ireland's case though you have to factor in their advantages, bargaining power and their economic position. They know they can undercut the UK and snare a significant portion of it's business and they do it pretty well. It has done in my industry for years and there won't be a change any time soon.

You have to step away from the ideal sometimes and work both sides of the equation.

I'm not going to get draw into naming countries operating to the left of the spectrum because that wasn't the point I was making.

You could, however, look at a country like Norway for example, a country with both socialist and conservative representation and influence. A country that appears to have balanced both sides of the coin relatively successfully. Widely recognised a free and fully functioning democracy with a robust structure.

Lee Anderson doesn't represent the numbers you think he does. He is about to find that out, along with a number of other pretenders who spurned their chance with this country. I think you'll find that many doesn't disagree with the principle itself but do take exception at how it was conveyed. I can't and won't find fault with the ambitious, hard workering aspirers that you mention. However, let's not let this tell the full story of the right where there's plenty of grifters. I suppose we can boil this down to the fact that Ecuador was clearly signposted as a "yellow/amber light" zone/district when SolGold initially did the JV with Cornerstone, and that's how it's proved. If we're being completely honest we'd have to admit that the light is more likely to change to red than to green and we can talk about the reasons for that until someone gets Cascabel to production.

The rest of the regional portfolio would need a softly softly approach. It would be about educating the population on safe mining practice and any other initiatives such as reforestation, repatriation, etc. It would be for the citizens to decide.

I daresay that the regional portfolio could provide long term value to an acquirer but a conversation clearly needs to happen. Nobody is going to pump millions of dollars into exploration drilling only for a discovery to be kyboshed.

The only issue as i see it is that the company engaged in that short-termism you mention when doing the merger and announcing the strategic review. Instead, they could, and probably should, have announced an evaluation of all assets of the combined group.

Yes 1982, they'll invest in constructing a mine but they'll look to scrimp and save when it comes to paying the people who took the risk when the company made the discovery, i.e. SOLG shareholders.

The fact of the matter is there are bigger stakeholders than us, stakeholders that wield much more influence. So, if a quick firesale of the company isn't in keeping with an outcome they're happy with, it doesn't happen. As simple as that.

We simply have to wait and hope the political/liquidity/etc plates keep spinning.
