Jesus, how are we back to pre-put option levels again? Until there's any kind of an update I think it's time to switch off....yet again
Looks like Vela's settled in to one of it's holding patterns again, stuck around the .02 mark and unable to break free. No news due that I'm aware of now that the excitement of the CDT business has been concluded, same old portfolio slowly dwindling away, no money in the bank. Single digits of trades each day, no RNS or updates - all very familiar.
Personally I hope the next update shows they sold some CDT at $5 or more, maybe $1mil or so to keep a healthy amount in reserve and allow them to actually make some investments which after all is what the whole point of Vela is. Can't see any reason we'd see any sort of a move towards fair value until then.
Have a good one all, despite all the moaning this year it's great that we go in to '24 in much better shape than 12 months ago. Confident that we'll see a change of fortunes here eventually
I'm off for a sunny & warm Christmas / NY, catch you later!
Yeah right, the US don't seem to be having the same issue. I know very little about the markets there but I see people on BB's often saying they're more buoyant than the UK. Be interesting to see what their economy looks like when they get their next president
It's a tricky situation for them to navigate I suppose, LVU is right that they perhaps need to re-assess the strategy, that idea was floated when Laiker was still around but soon got put aside once he'd gone. It's their USP and they're not going to give it up easily by the looks of things, and in fairness the factors they mention in the RNS have changed the landscape where IPO's are concerned. There just doesn't seem to be much money or investor confidence flying around nowadays post-covid, with various wars raging quite close to home, general global economic downturn etc. I just can't see them adapting their approach though, and if anyone can remember the KNB IPO that was an example of them doing it right - sell a large chunk quickly on the initial spike to cover the investment then enjoy a free ride from there. Not sure they've repeated the trick quite so successfully since but it can work, it's just down to the board paying attention and getting the timing right
Interesting to know the reasons for not selling any CDT yet, if it's not been an option until the 15th onwards then we should let them off! Wonder what figure they've got in mind for starting to sell though? As mentioned they desperately need money to keep the lights on let alone make new investments. As for the threat of a fund raise? Surely not, they have an asset they can dip in to now if they need £
Hopefully so, they're going to have to sell some of these CDT to get things moving here again not just in terms of sp (although an RNS saying they sold a couple of million $'s worth at 6 or 7 would probably help that) but also in terms of them being able to fulfil their purpose of making investments for the future. No matter what your view on their success rate at that, it's quite literally what they're meant to be doing so I expect we'll see some CDT sold in the interim
Absolutely right. At least he's never told anyone to be patient and it'll be great in the end....
Nice to see CDT on the march again today. Early days, but a nice start. No reaction here, obviously
Standard Vela - CDT rises and adds half or even a full million $ to the mcap and we rise at a sloth's pace. CDT dips and down we go by a much greater amount. Boring
Nice, lots of positivity on display there. There's a cracking ramp too, suggesting CDT going to $50! The warrants stuff is particularly interesting
The frustrating bit is that some days around $1mil has been added to the mcap (in terms of overall portfolio value) but the reaction here is a .001 increase in the sp if we're lucky. Slow going, but I'm confident that it'll jump north of .03 at some point soon as long as CDT doesn't collapse in to a heap
Spot on Noodleman - for a business with the word 'technologies' in the title they're not exactly embracing tech to spread the word are they? The PR company Novus Communications (who also have Trupsine on their books *shudder*) isn't exactly leaping in to action either, what are these people being paid to do?
Also how the hell are we still stuck at .025? Is this being held back for some reason? Looks like mostly buys on the board this afternoon, CDT looking like staying over $7, I just don't get it
That's all I can think it is - in the same way that we haven't lost or made money until we sell, so with Vela. As much as they've been hopeless these last few years I hope the board let CDT run up in to double figures and then press the button. Then they present the market with a metaphorical suitcase containing $10mil+ and prove everyone (me included) wrong
I don't really get the lack of volume here though, it's really odd - fair enough those of us that have been hanging around years will look at this with disbelief and have a moan that $1mill a day can be added to the mcap and there's no sp movement to correspond. But surely this should be attracting new aim investors looking for a bargain, there are plenty of those around? We've had an RNS update with no alarm bells going off, the future looks rosier than it has for literally years and we're dead in the water. Strange but true
And we're still at .025. This really does show how little interest there is in vela and/or how much the board have destroyed the sentiment here. Pathetic effort
You're probably right - that's the AIM way isn't it, big spikes and drops rather than slow and steady rise, and often at pretty random times. Just got to be on your toes if and when it happens
So we're predicting that a "huge cure" for covid or diabetes is highly likely on the strength of Vela owning some CDT shares with no facts to back that up huh? That's quite the ramp, congratulations
That makes for some nice reading, I do hope you're right
Couldn't agree more - if they were to RNS to the effect that they've sold half the holding at $5+ I'm sure we'd see a reaction here and I'm also sure the board would love to have some £ back for them to spend on next targets (whilst the rest of us watch on with gritted teeth to see what they go for this time)
God help me I bought again about half an hour ago. Breaking all my own rules here, I swore I'd never put another quid in to Vela but I just can't see how they can screw it up from here. If they're selling on the way up that would be great, get a few mill in the bank - that RNS will move the sp
