Oil production, like mining, is a ‘wasting’ industry. Without acquisitions, you mine and sell your product until there’s nothing left. At which point your company folds.
In sum, acquiring cost effective producing assets is a life-sustaining activity for oilers and miners.
i3e have said they are in an acquisition cycle currently and they have given a masterclass on how to acquire the sweetest properties at just the right time. Once this cycle has ended I would anticipate share buybacks to increase dividend payouts. I’m expecting a question about this on the Q&A sheet to be published by the. company tomorrow.
