Its obvious none of the posters here ,with perhaps the exception of quisad, have ever done business or remotely understand
payments in Brasil particularly in the agricultural sector.
Extended credit ,barter and deferment are common ,as is unfortunately default
Due to the lengthy and expensive legal process to claim bad debts they are seldom pursued thus encouraging the practice of default.
Other than perhaps Soy the agriculture business is far from lucrative except for the massive producers which unfortunately HMI have had no success in supplying
In spite of a Brasilian Mr Fixit director HMI have failed in every aspect of doing business in Brasil. They have continuously underestimated the bureaucratic processes ,been ripped off by agents, embarked on ventures such as Geociclo who were widely known to be in trouble and badly managed thus losing significant cash and reputation. All without due diligence from start to finish. They have yet to encounter the authorities and tax collectors who routinely wait a few years to pounce.
I hope they have audit insurance otherwise they are in for another big hit to finances. its already obvious that production declared is less than reported to shareholders.
