I’ll just refer to what I noted the other day, be mindful of the halo effect.
If someone wants to make a honest and objective assessment of management's performance, for example in working to improve the investor base, then they need to know what decisions and actions management did and didn't take in that regard and their reasoning for doing so or not as the case may be.
Assessing performance based on an outcome isn't objective. Outcomes by themselves don't give insight into the strategy, decisions taken and work done nor do they necessarily reflect whether any taken were good or bad. It’s not unusual for people to do good work and/or make good decisions yet not achieve a favourable outcome. Similarly, it's not unusual for people to do poor work and/or make poor decisions yet an outcome still go their way.
