Bruce the truth is dig a little below the surface and amongst many Italians there is a grudging admiration for Mussolini as a leader. Go to a lecture hall at a university and you'll observe co2 at 1000ppm because it's full of ppl breathing out co2 with no plants. Plants and humans (animals) are part of a symbiot system where one feeds the other. The lack of awareness about co2 is staggering, it's a very weak green house gas and anyway water vapour makes up between 75% and 90% of greenhouse gas depending on what scientist you talk to. This perverse notion that co2 "forces" water vapour to cause run away global warming is utter nonsense.

Snige how did plants learn how to convert co2 and water in to oxygen and glucose? They are far smarter than humans I find. Co2 religion will be the greatest mass delusion ever, the funniest bit is the water vapour denial. 75% of green house gases are water vapour, oh and the models don't handle clouds. Humans are a massive issue for the planet newboys. Plastic or paper the issue is disposal and land usage. Do paper bags not require farmland? Didn't realise paper was just magiced from thin air. Nothing leftie. I'm a real environmentalist we humans are appallingly wasteful and polluting. I am just aware that co2 isn't a pollutant. All our environmental policies should look to minimise use of land for farming and keep our environment pristine by disposing of waste properly. Unfortunately the environmental movement has been hijacked by co2 alarmists and rich land owners whose policies mostly increase the use of environment with dreadful things like bio fuel and growing stuff to make paper bags that do more environmental harm than plastic ones. Not that I'm an apologist for plastic bags but paper ones have huge environmental opportunity costs too.

So Breton you are happy to have inefficient farms that destroy more narural habitat? Why not go and join the loggers in the Amazon? Seems a hypocritical position to subsidize farming on the one hand and shout about very poor farmers in the Amazon on the other. Utter hypocrisy.

Macron would be best removing the large subsidies paid to farmers in France to inefficiently farm on largely deforested France, and hand over these generous CAP payments to Brazil to protect their rain forest. If he was slightly serious about the environment which of course he isn't because he monsters around on jets everywhere and has an utterly lavish lifestyle. He's happy to keep poor ppl poor to supposedly save the planet.

Over in Brazil there are forest fires as farmers clear land. The preservation of the Amazon is probably a good idea. However in Europe we underwent mass deforestation as our ancestor used wood for heat and land was developed for farming. To therefore propose punishment for Brazil for doing exactly the same seems utterly hypocritical. Rather than sanction Brazil to try to protect the rain forest rich countries should pay them to preserve large swathes. You cannot lead a huge farming country as Macron does and then criticise another country for expanding farming areas. It's gross hypocrisy, these loggers in Brazil lead a far lavish lifestyle than Macron. Pay them to preserve the environment or shut up.
