Yes Mick we agree all that is saying is the UK could trade under WTO whilst it negotiated with the EU. The FT has a certain spin on it because it has an editorial view other publications ran than in an entirely different way. There would be some disruption of course and horse trading needed but the head of WTO has said it's possible and perfect acceptable. It's disingenuous to suggest this is an impossibility.

Auson in a no deal there would be memorandums of understanding to allow things like trade and flights to continue. Politicians in Brussels and here aren't about to invite the mob in to their buildings by causing wilfull destruction. French farmers would be up in arms for one. Be slightly realistic. The WTO head said "it would not be the end of the world, nor a complete walk in the park". That's a realistic and fair statement.

Auson funnily enough the head of the WTO the world leading expert on trade told the telegraph the UK could trade on WTO and it would be "perfectly fine" and "completely acceptable". When Lancaster House speech was given it was stated the UK would leave CU and SM the pound rallies and the FTSE rose. This idea we can't trade under WTO is an invention of the remain side exploiting Mays incompetent election campaign in 2016. Nothing more.

Lti is right the only sensible path is leave cleanly under WTO and negotiate from there.
