Yesterday and today shows what happens in any Fed pivot, lay off for a second and the market’s and commodities will go hog wild feeding more inflation.

The Mexican standoff the Fed finds itself in, stamp down on inflation for real and you’ll cause a gargantuan crash, especially in European Banks, let up and risk hyperinflation, which could cause a meltdown eventually in its own right.

Stay the course with Au and Ag IMO.

Didn't take long from my post this morning for there to be an answer....it looks like CBs will pivot and take hyperinflation instead.

The entire economy is now a zombie, only works with the magic QE fairy dust. EU will come next, followed, reluctantly by the US when their currency becomes so strong it starts to collapse whole economies, currencies and debts not priced in Greenbacks.

2 decades of ultra loose monetary and fiscal psychosis has led us into this room, and Biden and the US Fed are going to be the ones that brick up the windows and doors with everyone trapped inside.

Pivot, and there's hyperinflation, stay on this course and it's a full on liquidity and debt crisis.

What a choice...

Something is about to break, it could be Sterling, the Yen, who knows, but something is about to pop. These interest rates and debt loads can’t go together!

If the US Fed goes through with their USD$100 a month roll off of the QE through QT then there's a massive liquidity crunch coming.

The problem is that is purely short term relief to the individual. What does it do for the UKs solvency and fx rates as an example.

The UK is about to borrow / print some >5% of GDP on one policy, maybe more, we don't know as it's an open cheque book.

As Covid showed us, despite what the experts told us, all that printed cash escaped into the real economy and has left us with >13% RPI, who really knows where all that new cash goes...

That's before we even touch on the issues with demand destruction being subverted, and what that does for long term investment of energy, real energy, not the fake stuff we are printing.

I keep buying and squirreling away, this and the cycle, not to mention the USD will turn at some point.

You are correct, the issue is what that has done to the Services we all rely on as a result, dentists, doctors, you name it, it’s becoming harder / impossible to get these Services as these people on very good wages prefer to work 3 days a week and enjoy their own quality of life, but at the expenses of the others and the Services they can accept.

It will also have a long term effect and productivity, and as we know, poor productivity and unit prices, breeds inflation, the inflation that sticks around (as the 70s showed us).

One of the crazy aspects of economics and its interaction with the real world, is that to solve some of these things and ‘force’ people back into the workplace full time and increase productivity, they are going to have to make society poorer first, and we as a collective will have no choice but to re-join the rat race in order to maintain our standards of living.

And make no doubt about it, we are about to get poorer, rather in raw terms (deflation) or real terms (inflation), and you can bet it will be through inflation.

Solid update a d progress towards the ultimate goal, mid 2023 onwards should see a different SP here imo.

I do agree though, the PoG will largely determine if all the company's good work goes rewarded or not.

Who knows what comes next, you could see a scenario where if governments do nothing and keep tightening monetary policy where you have a serious deflationary cycle, if they lift of tightening on monetary policy and step into guarantee the energy market, get ready for hyperinflation, as demand will simply carry on and a lot of that cash ends up in the real economy.

Whatever comes next will be nasty no matter what and will be the culmination of years of gross geopolitical incompetence and zero real planning or investment for the future.

Given the importance of ‘assets’ in our economy now (real growth is dead) IMO they’ll go back to the honey pot and let up on monetary policy and step into the energy market, if assets deflate, the game is up and the rich wont allow that, so the poor will swallow inflation instead, that carries it’s own risk of course, history is littered with revolutions when the poor cant afford to eat.

If time is on your side, so will Gold, eventually…Looking at wholesale energy costs in Europe, especially, there is a societal and geopolitical explosion about to happen this winter, and Gold will have it’s day IMO.

It's fast becoming a middle of the road data point, it used to means something the NFP numbers, but that time has long past, the covid "variations" which added and subtracted huge numbers buried any last remaining credibility it had. Same as their inflation numbers, if you used the same formula is the 70s, inflation would be double the official garbage.
