last time I saw it down at those prices was when it was recommended as David Schartz of the daily mails share tip for 2012, I think it was about $2.90 then. I watched and watched while it went up thinking it will drop and i'll buy in but it kept rising and rising, thought i'd missed it when it went above a £4 but then all the uncertainty surrounding the atmel payment caused pi's to panic and price went down to £3.32 and I jumped in @ 3.42
Did all the believers hold tight? I didn't intend to buy today couldn't resist 356. Didn't think results were that bad, nothing we didn't expect anyhow. the good things have yet to come. this time next year Rodney this time next year!!! PS I can't see any other share out there that i'd rather put my money in at the moment plus the divis more attractive at these prices............
Sorry if I've misled anyone regarding the new asus launches and thought and still do hope that Xsense IS in the atmel controller that can use both tecnologys, It has been mentioned in recent RNS's about multiple design wins so lets hope these are highlighted tomorrow and all or most of the ongoing issues are resolved, Oh good finish today and good luck for tomorrow
June 03, 2013 Atmel Corporation (ATML) expects an increase in demand for its products in 2013 based on the current semiconductor cycle, and will remain a leader in microcontrollers while also delivering its innovative touch sensor, XSense, that will replace ITO sensors currently used by OEMs, says William Stein, Managing Director at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. “Atmel is one of the leaders in 32-bit and 8-bit microcontrollers that are used in a variety of end markets…the company has a very good product portfolio, and we expect demand for these products to recover in 2013, based on our view of the cycle and of what drives it — consumer sentiment momentum. ATML also has a very strong position in microcontrollers that enable touch features in consumer products, primarily handsets and tablets, but also increasingly other products like automotive consoles,” Stein said. FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS INTERVIEW CLICK HERE. ATML is also seeing potential in its new touch sensor product called XSense, which is a less expensive and more flexible product that will replace ITO sensors, Stein says. “Another product cycle is Atmel’s innovative touch sensor called XSense, which replaces indium tin oxide, ITO, sensors that are currently used by touch panel OEMs. ITO is very expensive and brittle; XSense can be manufactured less expensively and it’s flexible, so can be placed on curved surfaces and can be placed right up to the edge of a piece of glass, which is another modest benefit,” Stein said.
Lastly Atmel has partnered with Carclo PLC (CCEGF.PK) to introduce a new metal-mesh based touch sensor solution called XSense that is significantly cheaper and provides better performance than current ITO based touch sensors. The sensor was introduced last January on some models of the Asus' Vivo Tab and has achieved multiple design wins with multiple tier one OEMs. Atmel expects to achieve at least $15 million of revenue from XSense this year and at least quadruple that amount to $100 million on 2014. In order to meet these revenue targets Atmel and Carclo need to achieve projected capacity by summer to meet customer orders. Atmel XSense manufacturing facility in Colorado was expected to achieve certification in May and Carclo's new XSense manufacturing facility in Cambridge U.K. was expected also to become operational in May. Currently all XSense manufacturing has been accomplished by Carclo in its XSense pilot line. Atmel and Carclo plan to continue to develop XSense to become integrated into display manufacturing to achieve in-cell XSense touch solutions in the future. Achieving this would significantly help Atmel to re-penetrate the smart phone touch industry. Conclusion Atmel is about to begin new period of increased revenues and margins. All of Atmel's targeted markets segments are growing and Atmel has taken a leading role in introducing new technologies on each of these emerging markets segments. Atmel is an aggressive long term investment for many years to come. That's why investors are jumping early into this promising opportunity and that is why Atmel is soaring above its 365 day high average.
still around these silly share prices, now unless i'm missing something Xsense is going to be massive with an expected $15 million worth of revenue this year and a further $100 million of revenue expected in 2014, carclo and atmels new factorys in cambridge and colorado open this month in order to meet expected demand from new tier 1 customers and multiple tier 1 design wins, there's no wonder atmels share price is at a 52 week high and unxl's share price is floundering, add to that a brokers target price of £5 per share and it really takes some believing we are at £3.70 its a bargain. I'm expecting plenty of positive news flow in the next 12 months that should send this share price northwards, its a case of short term pain for long term gain as i see it.
I should have pondered for longer! however those late reported trades from yesterday look interesting and the future still looks good IMO
i've just become a share holder here after pondering it for a few days, i was hoping to get in a bit cheaper but this looks to have good support at 89p, it hasn't advanced much over the last 6 months but hope this will soon change with the massive potential china and the usa offer. Brokers appear upbeat on this too.
Atmels doing well again today all on the back of unxl's uncertainties regarding iniboss delays and capabilities, Xsense is OUT this month in the asus "memopad" tablet and we're assured there is plenty more come and with revenue of between £8-£12 million just from cit alone to the end of march 2014 (this is before unxl has probably sold a single one) , but don't forget carclo is not a one trick pony and has its fingers in the lucrative LED lighting market and also the fast growing aerospace industry too. As they say "These prices can't last forever."
In a bid to offer touch-enabled functionality and convenience on larger screens, Atmel Corporation ( ATML ) recently introduced the world's first ultra-low power single-chip mXT2952T that supports touchscreens up to 15.6 inches. Atmel is focusing more on its core microcontroller business with the launch of the latest products as it aims to target high-growth businesses. The new Atmel maXTouch T Series delivers high-performance adaptive architecture and intuitive user interface solutions including maXStylus and maXFusion. MaXStylus requires no additional sensor layer requirements, which facilitates better touch performance, lowers the power consumption and reduces the overall cost compared to other capacitive active stylus solutions. On the other hand, maXFusion technology enables the designers to manage both the touch interface and sensor intelligence on a single chip. The new features in the maXTouch T Series facilitates improved responsiveness with the addition of hover capability that allow consumers to pre-select icons, letters, links and other images without touching the screen. Touch-sensing technology is one of the major growth drivers for Atmel's microcontroller business led by increased penetration of smartphones, the rise of Android tablets, and wide usage of the latest applications in tablets, netbooks and ultra books. The increasing demand for the Atmel's latest maXTouch solutions are expected to improve its business in the touch sensing market. The new touch controllers facilitate enhanced user experience with flawless touch performance, longer battery life and thinner screens for mobile devices. The consumers benefit from the large touch screens, which are more user-friendly and include thinner sensors and superior noise immunity. "Flawless touch performance, longer battery life and thinner screens for mobile devices are key features for today's touchscreen designs," said Jon Kiachian, Vice President of Touch Marketing, Atmel Corporation. "As a leader in touch technologies, the maXTouch T Series is Windows 8 compatible, Intel Ultrabook-ready, and supports both active stylus and sensor hub. We are a leader in this space, and excited to deliver the mXT2952T, the world's first single-chip controller for Windows 8-certified touchscreens up to 15.6 inches." To better support Ultrabook and notebook touch sensors, the mXT2952T has specific circuitry to take advantage of ITO (indium tin oxide) alternative sensor materials such as Atmel's XSense flexible touch sensor. This allows system designers to build more innovative designs with faster operation, lower power, borderless and even flexible touchscreens.
