Have to agree with Bruce Jamieson, as you will receive cash for your TSB shares then it matters not what HMRC or anyone else thinks, the cash will stay in there until you either take it out or find a new share to invest in. You will need to check with your ISA provider to see if they have a time limit for holding cash. ATB.

In a situation like this, and generally for any share that you hold, it is always worth keeping up to date with the official announcements from the company - called an RNS (Regulatory News Service). These can be accessed at the top of the page - the white icon that says 'Live RNS' - and there is a flashing red dot on days when the company has something to announce to the Stock Market. You will usually find the answers to all of your questions in these statements, or on the relevant company's website - though it often involves an awful lot of reading before you find the piece you are looking for. Below is an answer I posted to a similar question a couple of days ago, basically this would appear to be a done deal and not accepting the offer will simply delay the receipt of your payment. You may also find it hard to sell your shares after May 8th as who is going to buy them knowing they will only get 340p without the benefit of the Bonus shares that you would receive. It is extremely unlikely at this late stage that there will be a counter offer, and the offer is likely to go unconditional very quickly after the 8th, so the sooner you accept the sooner you will get your cash. If you hold out all that will happen is that you won't be included in the first payment run, and section 979 of the Companies Act 2006 gives a takeover bidder who has already acquired 90% of a company's shares the right to compulsorily buy out the remaining shareholders - at the original offer price." If you had bothered to read the offer document you would see that you will receive the 340p for each of the Bonus shares - up to a maximum of 38 - that you would have been entitled to. "Lloyds will make arrangements to pay, to any investors who would have been entitled to receive Lloyds Bonus Shares, the cash value of those bonus shares (at the Offer price to be paid by Sabadell). The Board of TSB has discussed these arrangements with Lloyds and is fully supportive of the arrangements that have been made."

Hope there is some sort of dealing facility offered for those who don't want to be left holding New Arris shares on the Nasdaq, as I've had one too many bad experiences of holding US stocks - sod's law means that even if the company does well the $/£ exchange rate will move in the opposite direction and wipe out any profit!!. The Board confirms that its expectations for the full year remain unchanged. For the quarter to 31 March 2015, Group Revenues were 2.6% higher and Private Label sales 2.9% higher on a constant currency basis than the comparable quarter in 2014. Sales in UK and Italy showed modest growth but France and Spain remained challenging. The German market continued to deliver the growth levels seen in the first half. The UK restructuring project is progressing well and remains fully on track. The Board will issue a pre-close trading update for the year ended 30 June 2015 on 7 July 2015.

No, I was in an old beige fleece bending over laying pieces of track. I had already put it all down but they decided it would look good on camera so I had to pick it all up and lay it again!!! It made it the second time around, but I wasn't involved in that one. ATB.

Why are people selling now? Possibly because they would rather have the cash now and reinvest elsewhere than wait 10-12 months for 1/3 cash and 2/3rds Shell shares, lukegrunger. Plus who knows where we will be in that sort of timescale FTSE-wise. It only takes a poorly received Gov at the forthcoming election, another Euro crisis or some other financial or oil-related meltdown and we could very quickly be back at '08/09 levels. For some people cash will always be King. ATB.

From the RNS: "It is expected that the Scheme Document will be despatched to BG Shareholders towards the end of 2015 or in early 2016" so a long way to go yet. It will be very interesting to see where the oil price and the RDS 'B' share price is early next year as they could have a significant impact on the value of this deal. As an original Sid I shall be looking forward to the 5.43% yield on RDS 'B' shares rather than the paltry 1.44% yield offered by BG. And as my p/f is geared towards high yielding shares I will be opting for extra shares in the 'Mix and Match Facility'. ATB.

This is not yet a done deal. "It is expected that the Offer Document will be posted to TSB Shareholders by 17 April 2015" and Sabadell will then require 75% of shareholders to agree to the merger. Once this is reached they then have to give a minimum of 20 days notice to cancel the existing TSB shares on the Stock Exchange. Therefore this deal is not likely to happen before June, and you may have to wait until late June or early July before you receive your money. Of course there is nothing to stop you selling your shares now for a few p's less than you will get via the offer (340p) but you would not get the benefit of up to 38 Bonus shares - if you qualify - which could be worth an extra £129.20. Just for clarification, you cannot reclaim the tax credit on a div whether inside or outside of an ISA - Gordon Brown removed that perk many years ago, which hit Pension co's very hard. ATB.

Probably because many pi's 'stagged' the issue hoping for a quick profit at launch, when that profit didn't come they baled and took their money elsewhere - not prepared to wait months for a few pennies. Others will have baled because they only received 1/3rd of the shares they wanted making their holding to small to keep. Let's face it, if you applied for £1,000's worth and ended up with just 137 shares, you're not going to get rich in a hurry are you? ATB.

The 95p Return of Capital per share should be available to spend as soon as the cash hits your account. As I hold in certificated form my payment arrived in my bank account today, suggest you chase HL to find out when they will credit your account. ATB.

The record date for the Special div and consolidation was 13th March. The 73p was paid per share on your holding at that date. ATB.

Technically, this is the third payment under the Capital Return Plan - see RNS of 24/2 - and NOT a div so it doesn't show up in the normal way, or give a yield for the share. This payment was brought forward from June to avoid the new rules on B/C shares, so we'll have to wait and see how they will offer future payments. ATB.

Once inside an ISA wrapper your shares and cash are protected, with any gains you make being tax free. You can use the cash within the ISA to buy other shares - just check with your provider to see if they have a maximum time that cash can be held within a S&S ISA - it is no different to you choosing to sell your TSB shares and then using the cash to buy other shares.
