The next focusIR Investor Webinar takes places on 14th May with guest speakers from Blue Whale Growth Fund, Taseko Mines, Kavango Resources and CQS Natural Resources fund. Please register here.
Bonus shares were only ever available to customers who registered and bought through a separate part of the flotation. They were never ever available to the vast majority of people who bought through the public offering, if you had read the prospectus you would have known this. ATB.
I'm only allowed 3,000 characters so nowhere near long enough to tell you what is wrong with Ilfracombe!! Nice enough to visit in the day to do the touristy walks, see Verity and walk up Lantern Hill to visit St Nicholas Chapel built straight onto the rock, but that's where the nice bits end. The place can be summed up by the shops on the High St - rough - and definitely not a place to go to in the evening!! There are some truly beautiful places to visit in this part of the world, and should you ever venture this way again I would be more than happy to act as your tour guide - Baggy Point, Croyde, Saunton, Instow and Appledore, Lynton and Lynmouth, to name but a few - but not within a 5 mile radius of Ilfracombe!! As for Milky Bar, I fancy a taste but not sure I could eat a whole bar. ATB.
Bang goes your credibility admitting to staying in Ilfracombe...lol!! Once went for a pub lunch where the menu had ham chips and up to six free range eggs, so guess how many I asked for?? Yep, I had 6, and jolly nice they were too. Should probably admit that most of the choccy bars are of the 'mini' variety, though did have a nice big bar of CDM for Fathers day. Where do I go now? Cadburys sold, Thorntons sold.....what is a chocoholic supposed to do? ATB.
With a yield of only 1.23% doubt many are here for the income. Some of us are around from the early days of MFI, others will have climbed onboard as things started to improve with the name change to Howdens. There was a time a few years back with the MFI/Galiform sp languishing at 15p that these were confined to my 'waiting for a miracle drawer', now it's a very different story. Will the sp rise any further, very possibly, but doubt we will see the sort of growth we have seen over the last 3 years, another 300% rise in the next 3 years would see this over £20 - very nice if it happens!! A good company with some great products, just don't let the list price put you off buying from them - though you will need to do so via your builder as they are trade only. ATB.
You appear to have looked in on a day when LSE was suffering from a few gremlins. Very often it appears that no-one has ever visited a board, but wait a few hours for things to sort themselves out and you will see that some of us have been around here for years, so welcome aboard. ATB.
Full Year Results for the 53 weeks ended 2 May 2015:"Substantial growth in Group underlying profit to £14.2m, strong like-for-like sales growth in UK, a return to profit in the Rest of Europe and a net cash position at period end." But no return to a dividend. One of the days top performers while the rest of the FTSE recedes over the uncertainty of a Greece default. ATB.
Then I must be the exception that proves the rule QE, up to 10 choccy bars a day and I'm Gerd free!! ATB.
Mmmm.....me thinks your calculator needs a new battery. How on earth did you get to a £100 investment buying 70 shares????? I've always said I had 400 shares, which were worth £100 when they were languishing at 25p, but cost me £560 which makes me a bigger investor than lego!! So to avoid any further confusion I bought for £560 and will sell for £580 making 5p a share on each of the 400 I own. And for the record I don't champion Tesco I just find them convenient, like their 20p off a tankful of juice (filled up the other day at the equivalent of 95p a litre) and don't like Sains, Asda, Morrisons, etc. Just a personal choice but do get a bit annoyed by the big corporate bashers who like to knock the biggest players in the market 'cos it's trendy - exactly the same two-faced idiots who drive Fords and wear Nike and Reebok trainers!!!! Have a look at the footwear worn at the next big Anti-Capitalist or G8 riot!!! My biggest holdings are AFC, BT, BP and NG, but I'll keep the figures to myself if you don't mind. Think you would be surprised at how much some of those £500-£600 punts bought in the 80's and 90's are worth today.. ATB
Just checked back through my records to see I bought Thorntons for 140p back in March '96, so I've made a massive 5p a share in my 20 years of holding them. True I've had some divs along the way, and I've enjoyed my fair share of free chocolates using the money off vouchers they send out annually, but I'm sure most will agree that a 3.5% return over 20 years is not going to make anyone rich. With hindsight I should have sold in Apr '99 at 250p and bought back in Jan '12 at 10p, then I would have made some real money. But at least I won't have to worry about paying CGT on this gain!! In the same month, March '96, I also bought Whitbread at 708.5p which now stand at 5195p - a 733% gain. Just goes to show that some you win and some you don't. ATB.
They do hedge, but the fuel they are using now was hedged a year ago when prices were high. Where we will see the benefit is when the fuel prices rise and they will be able to use the cheap fuel they are hedging now. ATB.
"Santander announces that Moody's Investor Services has published on June 17, 2015 the revised rating of the Bank as follows: Long term senior debt and deposits - A3 from Baa1. The outlook of this rating is positive." ATB
Now now you two play nicely - no crossed words on this BB. As you are probably both aware by now my p/f is heavily based around utilities, and they have served me very well over the years. Bought big in the privatisations of the 80's and 90's, and with most of them offering DRIPS or SCRIPS my holdings have grown along with the sp - win win. I inherited IMT when Hanson split many years ago Queenie and remember well buying some at 480p in a Rights Issue - result!! Hopefully this depressed sp will not last for long before recovering to pre-div levels, so now may well be a very good time to fill your boots. ATB.
Nice to see the re-instated div arrive in my bank account today. ATB.
As far as I'm aware the record date applies to everyone, whether they hold in paper form or in a nominee account. According to the two links below the free shares will be credited on June 5th, and the div will be paid on them. ATB. https://www.sagashareholder.co.uk/forms/FAQTopic.aspx?SectionID=684 https://www.sagashareholder.co.uk/forms/FAQTopic.aspx?SectionID=483
No. The Bonus shares and dividend are completely separate in this case. The shares go ex-div tomorrow and the record date for the div is Fri 5th June, so unless the Bonus shares are credited to your account by this date then you will not receive the div on them. ATB.
Why has this reappeared??
I believe the opting for more shares means there is no Spanish Withholding Tax to pay. In future the divs for Aug '15, Feb '16 and May '16 will be cash, with the Nov'15 div being offered as a SCRIP. This used to be one of the best div payers around with a yield of 10%+ (my holding has grown 65% in 6yrs) but it has been recently been halved so not now quite so attractive. ATB.
For the last couple of years all four quarterly divs have been offered as SCRIP's, but this changes now to 3 cash and 1 SCRIP. If as you say your MIL has paper certs then surely she doesn't have a broker for them and must have signed something to opt for the SCRIP, and would have received new shares 4 times a year unless it's something she opted for in the last couple of months. Mine are held in their SSA (Santander Shareholder Account) which means I can opt to convert my cash divs into new shares, as you could with a broker but without the dealing costs. ATB.
