Apologies for my comments on HMV recently, I believe Choppy2 spoke up for me, as we speak a lot about a lot of things on the THT board. I know it was a bit naughty of me as i don't hold and maybe i shouldn't have taken such a dim stance on the share, I know i take a dim view to people posting bleak comments on shares i own, so i have learnt my lesson!!! And for the record i have a few HMV's in my portfolio so i know how it feels when a share only seems to go one way!!
410p is IMHO a good buy in price. If you read back over some of my posts on IPR - you won't have to go far as there's not many of us here - you will see that i have been suggesting exactly what you have just said. I don't think the sp will fall by the full 92p, so depending what the closing price on 8/2 is it could be a nice little earner.
Pity the DRIP has been suspended for this div as i always take the option of new shares with my divs, but think i will take the cash out this time as i'm trying to do up a property to sell and have to generate cash from somewhere, and this way it avoids dealing charges - result!!
You are correct that the IPR div is a good yield - 4% last year - and even though the monetary value will be re-based to take into account the return of capital it should stay around that level.
As for good yields i like NG and the other utilities SSE, SVT, and UU. all 5.5-6% and RSA, BNC, SL. and THT all around 6%. At my age i'm looking for income so glad to see PSN and BP back on the divi trail, and have high hopes for NEX and HWDN to re-instate their divs with the next set of results. Then all i need is for LLOY to pay one and i'll nearly have a full set!!
Depending which way this moves before next Tues you could do very well, if it only drops say 80-85p from 430p you could have received 92p and only seen your shares drop by 60p from your purchase price. If only everything was as easy!!! ATB.
