How very nice to see you here. What's all this talk about a RI? You can count me in for my share as I'm sitting on a load of VOD money I want to re-invest somewhere. In all my years of investing I can't remember a single RI I've been involved in that didn't make money, maybe not quick enough for the in-out merchants, but they've boosted my p/f very nicely thank you. Pleased to see you've been enjoying this sun, it's been lovely down here of late, the lawn is almost dry enough for its first cut of the year. ATB.

When a share gains promotion to the FTSE one of the pluses is that the FTSE Tracker Funds need to purchase shares to remain representative, this can give the sp a boost. ATB.

Glad we got that sorted. The FT obviously had things wrong as the UK Plc sp has never been higher than it is at the moment. It is not the first time that people, papers, etc have confused BNC with the UK Plc sp. IMHO this is not such a bad share, granted the sp hasn't gone anywhere for the last 2-3 years but it does have a phenomenal 12% yield if you hold via their SSA and take divs as new shares....not many can match that!! Have added Bankia to my watchlist and will keep an eye on it. ATB.

This discussion board is for BNC (Banco Santander) and NOT Santander UK Plc which has the code SANB. Last year the sp for SANB fluctuated between a low of 94p and todays price of 115p....how is that Quintupling?? A 22% rise if you bought at the low, certainly not a 500% increase. Think you are the turkey M8....and your calculator needs a new battery!!

Unlikely. They have never issued a DRIP since they originally floated, so unlikely to offer one any time soon. Though I would sign up straight away if they did - a great way to increase your holding over time at no cost. ATB.

While I wouldn't disagree with your assessment of HWDN, I would just add that they do not sell to the public. You can go and have a look around, speak to their - in our experience - very helpful and knowledgeable staff, and decide what you would like. But the purchase has to be made through your Builder's or other Tradesman's account, though as we found out, once they know who you are using it is a simple case of paying cash for things booked out on their account. And you certainly wouldn't want to pay their list price, our Builder was able to get £408 Dordogne Oak doors for £108 - a near 75% discount!! ATB

Spot on. Still here, and will be for years to come - until I need a new battery for my mobility scooter!! Hope you enjoy your trip if you can find a full paying child. Chessington for younger kids, Thorpe Park for the older ones, or Alton Towers if you aren't going to London. We used to get Annual passes with our Tesco Clubcard vouchers. As we only lived 20 mins from Thorpe Park we used to pop in after school on a hot day for a few wet rides. We clocked up over 75 visits one year. Great times. ATB

My share chat may not be up to much, but as long as I can raise the odd titter then i'm happy. Best way to keep floral arrangements fresh is to keep them cool, outside in a shed with some light is preferable to being indoors with the central heating cranked up.....but beware frosts. Nice to be down here in the sticks where the big chains fear to tread and you can support local shops and businesses. Will be doing my bit for THT's t/o and using some of my vouchers in the next couple of weeks. Now if only they and TNI would bring back the div I would be more than happy. ATB.

Definitely not a Mirror reader, in fact don't read any of the papers. Came by these in a rather circuitous route via Mirrors buy-out of MIN back in '97 having bought into MIN when they floated in '94. Only a tiny holding like THT so not one that concerns me too much as between them they only account for 0.4% of my Portfolio, but nice to see them both considerably higher than recent lows. Was looking for my Portfolio to reach a major milestone by the end of this year, but a couple have gone into reverse, so looks like I will have to wait until next year for that one to be reached. Hope all is well with you and yours, and can just imagine the shopping frenzy you must be embarking on trying to cater for everyone.

How very nice to hear from you. What with the rise in BT and BP so far i'm having the best year in ages. Also dabbled with the RMG and MERL IPO's.....makes a change for me to buy something new. Had another chunk of building work done and am now all nicely roofed, DG'd, soffits etc, and finally insulated and watertight. Still loads to do outside, but at least we'll be warm and dry this winter. Keenly watching Salmond and his mob from a distance. As an English man it doesn't really bother me one way or the other, but I do fear for Scotland in the long term if he gets his way. Will be interested to hear your take on the current situation at Millwall. My handful of shares are consigned to a box of old share certs and currently sit in my portfolio with a value of £0. ATB.

They were oversubscribed. Min £1,000 got all asked for, so 317. Above £1,000 you got 317 plus 55% of what you asked for, subject to a maximum subscription of £27,946.80 (8,872 Ordinary Shares). Unconditional dealings in the Ordinary shares will commence at 8am on Wednesday 13th November.

Thanks for the two posts, nice to catch up. Not on here so often these days as can be seen from my stagnated post count whereas yours is now 5,000+.Though with the FTSE rising and my biggest holdings doing well I do like to check my 'Portfolio' to make sure i'm making more than i'm spending on the builder lol! Well remembered about the B'day, have a meal planned for this evening, but these days they are very low key affairs. My B/band is currently with the PO as at the time we had it connected they were just about the only people who offered an unlimited service. But they are pants, line drops up to 10 times a day - including just now when I lost my first reply to you AARRH!! - so cannot wait until Dec when I can ditch them. Sis next door is with BT and never has a problem, so will be switching soon. Plus I can then get BT Sports without having to go next door when my team is playing. My two finished Uni this summer and are both now working. Daughter is on a 9 month maternity cover with a large firm on the marketing side, and hopefully will be kept on if she does well. Son, who got a 1st, is working as an intern with a football league club on the analysis side, but they are paying for him to do his Masters. Though it did cost me £10k to buy him a nice shiny car to get to and from work. Being 200 miles away wasn't going to be very practical if his £500 motor kept breaking down lol!! All but a handful of my shares are FTSE100 and pay a reasonable div, and most of them offer a DRIP or SCRIP so my holdings grow all the time. It is nice to see growth year on year, but some times it is purely down to owning extra shares and not a growth in sp's. But as long as it is going upwards than I mustn't grumble. We're currently living off of the wife's small occupational pension and savings, very reluctant to sell any shares or funds at the moment with the poor returns to be had on cash. Though am going to give some serious thought to having a little dabble with P2P lending in the new year, returns of 5%+ look attractive. but need to do some more research. As you can see not heard from wag7 for nearly a year so not sure what he is up to now. Am sure we'll catch up again before then, but if not do have a very Merry Christmas, and wishing you a very prosperous New Year. ATVB.

It's always quiet on here so any post should stay in view for a month or two. Only picked up your post on RMG as I happened to be looking at how things were doing. Was a bit naughty and put in 6 applications for the shares using other family members. Didn't get all I wanted but will end up with 1,362 when all the certs are transferred to me. When I found out we'd only get the basic 227 I had planned to buy more in the open market, but it took off a bit too quickly. Never mind, am now looking at getting in on Merlin Entertainments next week. Spent almost every weekend at one or other of their parks when the kids were young. You could get an annual pass for about £15 of Tesco Clubcard vouchers.....bargain of the century. As we only lived about 30 mins from Thorpe Park we even used to pop in after school!! As I mentioned in my reply to you over on RMG i'm having the best year for ages with my big 4 holdings all doing well. All I need is for BP to finally put the GOM disaster behind them (nice increase in div earlier in the week), LLOY to stat paying a div and VOD to sort out the Verizon sale and I should be set for life. BT especially doing well, not one to brag about how much they are worth, but a seriously large sum these days - just so pleased they were all PEP'd years ago. Which can only mean one thing...we are due for a huge market correction back to about 3500 which will wipe out all of my gains and leave me on the breadline waiting for the meagre state pension to kick in!!!!
