Nice to see this break through 300p after a slow start. So congrats to those who bought in the IPO and stayed in, and to those who topped up when the sp fell to 230p and are now sitting on a nice 30% profit. ATB.

Not sure generating capacity or increasing/decreasing power needs has a great deal of effect on NG's sp, as they only supply and maintain the infrastructure - pylons, cables, gas and electric connections, etc - and derive their revenue from charging the energy companies to use their pipes and cables. They are a virtual monopoly owning the electricity transmission system in England and Wales, and all the gas in the UK passes through National Grid’s national transmission system with them owning and operating four of the eight regional gas distribution networks in GB. So while their sp tends to rise and fall in line with the market, a mild or cold winter will not greatly impact on their earnings as the major energy companies still have to pay NG in order to supply their customers whether they sell a lot or a little. And back up again!! Strange how some people don't seem to realise that shares go down as well as up, and only ever comment when the sp falls!! The BNC sp rose 10% in 2013, is up 10% so far in 2014, and pays a div of 10%. In the last two years (1/9/12 to 29/8/14) covering 8 divs - which I have taken as new shares - the number of shares I hold has grown by 20.9% with the sp rising from 446p (31/8/12) to 608p (29/8/14). This means the total value of my holding has increased by 64.8% in 2 years (divs reinvested). What more do some people want???? If people consider that BNC is a poor share because it has only returned 64.8% in two years then the rest of their portfolio must have shown meteoric growth!! Perhaps they would like to share a few tips with the rest of us as to where to invest to better that sort of return. ATB.

Agreed, an all time high and a great div - what more could you want from a share. Definitely one to keep for the long term, and a nice profit for all of us who bought the Rights Issue for 335p back in 2010. ATB.

I now have my rainy day money with Santander earning 3% on instant access, and earn £8-£10 a month cashback on my council tax and utility bills - something no other bank offers.

Where have all the doom-mongers gone with their comments such as "what a flop this ipo is" as this is now showing a healthy 12% rise on the issue price of 250p. Some people don't seem to realise how the market works - very often shares that go down recover and go back up!! And those who believed in the company and were brave enough to top up when the sp fell to 230p have now seen a rise of 50p or 22%. Not bad for a couple of months - bring on 300p. ATB.

Could have something to do with the general problems in the banking industry, Eurozone debt problems, the state of the Spanish economy and their high levels of unemployment, the recent problems with Portuguese banks, etc, etc. BNC have done well with their sp rising 50% since the worst of the PIGS woes 2 years ago, and have offered a 10%+ div over the last three years - very few places would have offered you that sort of return on your money.

As you were only allocated 400 shares then you almost certainly bought in the retail offer so the Bonus share offer does not apply to you. The Bonus shares are only available to employees and existing customers who bought directly through Saga. ATB.

As mondo1 says the bonus shares will be added to your holding if you hold for a year. But this is only for employees and Saga customers who applied through Saga, if you bought your shares via the retail offer then you will not be eligible for the bonus issue. ATB.

Think you will find that it was only existing customers and employees who were eligible for the 1 for 20 free shares. People who applied through brokers or the public offer, or those that have since bought in the open market, are not going to get any free shares. ATB.
