If you read back my posts purplesky, you'll note my thoughts on the GEO portfolio TLDH have, .London being only one of them. .Wedding was brought up as an example for something else and should be an exceptional revenue earner for the reasons mentioned.

Rykan, just saw your 09:01 post - agreed and pretty much a given regarding aggressive acquisition activity in the space.

A dedicated .Wedding domain specifically for the couple - something special for the occassion.

"Would I buy a .wedding domain" - the question is "Would I be allowed NOT to buy one"! Again, we have a $300Bn established wedding industry from which we should secure a massive, recurring income stream. The personal domains should add greatly to that, hence a brilliant strategic acquisition of the .Wedding domain.

It's important to actually research this space as many of the posts are quite naive in their assumptions. Do those domain options actually exist?? Those involved in strategic implementation expect a cobsiderable personal uptake in domains specifically for the special event - if john & michelle were getting married, they'd purchase a domain linked to themselves. On that dedicated site, they'd post pictures, videos, blogs and everything to do with the special day. If people think that wont occur, its their perogative - there were many doubters of the internet itself before it took off. We also have the established wedding industry itself worth over $300 Bn and growing so very comfortably positioned with .WEDDING!

If Facebook paid $19Bn for Whatsapp, who turned over $20M last year, what price would one of the giant Internet companies pay for TLDH? - the point is big pockets, recurring revenues, strong Geo portfolio & non replicability (not like being able to design another messaging app)!!

TLDH only need a tiny fraction of the $300 bn wedding industry. You dont know anyone whose bought a .wedding domain as they're not on general release yet. Yahoo suddenly decided to sell off a huge chunck of their .Com portfolio just as the new gTLD kicked off last year - draw your own conclusions. Anyone whose familiar with Marissa Meyers stated aims re: Yahoo and its battle against Google, Acquisitiin strategy, cash influx from the Alibaba IPO can answer your first query (I may later on). The comparison to the $19bn Whatsapp acquisition has already been answered. Not much more to say but breakfast awaits ;)

That's correct as they did sell off a massive lot of .COM names, counciding with the momentum build up to the new gTLD program! 'Whatsapp has phenomenal growth potential' - what do you think TLDH has with the global availability of the new domains, the wedding industry as one example alone being worth over $300Bn and the GEOS expected to have major uptake with business & private users. Facebook paid $19 Billion for Whatsapp, essentially a messaging app whose 2013 revenues were only circa $20M - puts things into perspectictve!! Let's see how high the offers are for Minds + Machines, the 4th largest player in the space, the only one in a position to be bought out from the top 4 (donuts already tied in) and with the strongest Geo portfolio.. that's notwithstanding the non replicability of the business! So, how many $billions would it take.....??

" By myself, Rykan & Macgaz in a previous discussion - I was actually carrying on the point in question with Rykan, the new developments substantiating his initial belief (or Macgaz's) of such ;)

I also wonder what the revenues were for Whatsapp, which prompted Facebook to pay $19 Bn for them - acquisition strategies vin the space aren't necessarily focused on revenues / mkt cap at a given time but progression of an industry for company, as well as 'fit' within the larger organisation. The CEO of TLDH understands that all too well, certainly better then random posters on any forum, hence his quite specific comments on Acquisitions within the space!
