Interesting week this week with lots of US corp earnings releases - not that any of that should affect MKA.

FYI - I picked up on some interesting Rare Earth numbers last week:

In the first quarter (2022), about 4,500 mt of rare earth permanent magnets were consumed, an increase of 142% over the same period last year.

From January to February 2022, the consumption of NdFeB magnets in China's wind turbine industry is about 4,000 mt, up 61.01% from the same period last year.

In the carbon neutrality era, the wind power field is developing rapidly. From January to February 2022, China's installed wind power capacity was 5.73GW, an increase of about 61% year-on-year.

I hear you panda but I'd penciled in $1,850 AISC for Q1 myself and they've printed $2.2k.

All the market knows right now is that they've currently losing $300 per ounce produced and they're building debt again.

I know for sure that the market will be factoring in that, perhaps, there's an underlying issue at Yanfolila which is the real reason for the rocketing AISC over the last six months.

I've been very clear on valuing Yanfolila at $0.00 this past year or so myself but with the presumed silver lining that it could still throw off some decent cash this year with Gold tapping $2k but clearly, that's now in question and I'm guessing that the best, real-world, case is that it is indeed $0.00 with an overall AISC a lot closer to $2k than $1.5k.

Again, I'm only here for Dugbe and Kouroussa and this is why - who knows what happens next, they'll have the Dugbe DFS numbers in-hand already, I'm sure of that, so let's see what turns up next and when.

We did know that but I'd still like to have seen the Q1 AISC come in at sub-$2k.

I can't and won't argue against the possible positives later in the year re Yanfolila as you may well be right but as I posted on the weekend, I never again expect to see a sub-$1,500 AISC at Yanfolila because of the booming rise in input costs, energy specifically.

Suggesting Yanfolila will come in under $1,400 AISC over the year with this start and inflation still booming is just not credible and as someone else said, I'd rather they just laid it on the line at a more likely $1,600-$1,700 AISC as that would, perhaps, at least be credible.

Fundamentally, I don't believe what they're saying and the fact they're saying it wobbles me - perhaps they're reaching for an almighty SP dump and buy-in, wouldn't surprise me but regardless, it's all a bit smelly innit?

Well the only thing anyone will take note of I guess is the whopping $2.2k AISC for Q1 and I can't really blame them.

Now you know why I'm here for Dugbe/Kouroussa and not Yanfolila as those numbers are cringeworthy and I have to question why they're doing that.

We'll have to see what turns up but I doubt we'll see a sub-$1,500 AISC from Yanfolila at 2022 energy costs.

That said, I would expect the gold price to match/beat those rising costs in the year ahead so we'll maybe have a better idea on that with Q2's numbers.

Quite the collapse in the afternoon, not too sure where she goes from here, may possibly nip under 10p for a descending wedge recovery over some months but an impossible call - odd rns I thought.

700k of 20p "sells" scrubbed after the close but I note the 300k buy is still intact.

Obviously all a bit sketchy to say the least - perhaps a 10x from here really is on after all.
