The Sunday Times reports that cgt might be paid at the same rate as income tax.
So for a basic rate tax payer it could potentially rise from 10% to 20%, higher rate 20% to 40%.
The article is behind a paywall but if you can get Apple News you can read it here:

The Independent also reports on it here:

If you trade from a standard non-ISA share trading account, generally speaking you pay cgt on profits over £12,300 on shares sold per person per tax year.
It was said on the BB the other day that you should not take tax advice from anyone on here despite their best intentions as everyone’s situation is different. I agree entirely, just want to give people a heads up that there may be changes coming.
There are various legitimate ways to avoid or reduce cgt so if you think you might go over the threshold and you don’t already have an accountant or tax adviser the relatively small cost to them may save you a lot of money in tax.
GLA all next week.
It’s been mentioned before on this BB, it’s probably a long shot but imagine the potential added value of a Disney Store in every Cineworld Theatre. Parents would struggle to walk past and not buy the kids light sabres for Star Wars movies, Chewbacca masks, Disney Princess dresses, branded drinks cups, the lot.
The app is excellent for simple day to day stuff but you need to go on website for all the options available. If you and your partner have separate accounts you can link them and easily switch between the two on the app to view, trade and add funds. Probably not the cheapest out there if you do lots of small trades. I called them today with a query and got straight through to a very helpful and knowledgeable guy so from my experience good customer service.
Great idea
Great Smalltrader. Bank deposits are instant so I’ll do it in chunks.
I just got off the phone with HL, when you sell the shares you have to wait until they are settled at the end of the day plus 2 trading days before funds are available to transfer to the ISA. Once in your ISA you can trade straight away.
Thanks, not the answer what I was hoping for though! 4 days is a long time with this stock so may have to try a different approach.
The wife and I were planning to “Bed and ISA” our CINE stocks but it looks like Hargreaves Lansdown have suspended the service due to coronavirus. If this stock rises as we all hope we will pass our capital gains thresholds. I guess my only option is to manually sell stock, move the cash to stock ISA account and buy again. Any ideas how fast I can get this done? For example will the cash be immediately available in the stock ISA account once transferred? I don’t fancy waiting for the funds to clear if there is a short squeeze. I would call HL but as it’s now a long weekend I would like to be prepared for next week. Any advice greatly received.
£2M bought vs £3M sold. Tap on “NEX share price” icon at the top left of your screen and scroll down past the graphs.
At 12:00 HL was showing 58.16 sell, 55.66 buy with a popup message to say selling price sometimes higher than buy. I've seen this lots of times after hours but never during trading hours.
I use Hargreaves Lansdown, it’s free but you have to be logged in and switch on “Live Prices”/confirm you are a private investor. Works on Website and App. I went weeks with it turned off and delayed for 15 minutes without knowing.
I’m in
Good stuff, thanks for sharing JBS.
Thanks for that Treacle
Hoping for 52p + but happy to end today anything in the 50’s
Interesting article on Forbes regarding the release of Tenet from an American box office point of view. I’m new on here so not sure if I can post links so here goes:

If not just search Tenet on Forbes website.
49p in up to the back wheels.
I'm having the exact same thoughts. Am I smart, brave, stupid or hopelessly optimistic?
