At best QBT might run their SaaS service externally to to project but as soon as they start tinkering inside certain specified boundaries they will be forced to contribute their work back to the project or become persona non grata. Bitmain have already acted in this way in respect of AsicBoost. The project developer has called them for this but been ignored. Mr Dorsey probably has a bit more clout by virtue of having a big stash of cash.

In respect of the SaaS offering QBT may still run foul of things given they have to install their own firmware onto the target rig. In order to do so then it is likely that they would have to open source it. Then again although others would like to think that firmware is part of the Holy Grail it is likely just a glorified boot system that just ties the rig back to QBT's servers.

Your big words are OPEN SOURCE. The majority if not all of open source projects and their contracts will insist that any software or hardware developments made on the platforms being offered to the community will be donated back to the community. QBT does not want to do this. They file patents or they hide their IP away on their own servers. As a result QBT will be excluded from such projects.

I think I can help you out with that one Jam. QBT want people to download their firmware so their rigs are forced to receive instructions from the QBT SaaS offering. This is not the concept of the decentralised system for which both JD and Ocean are advocating. Then again concepts and the meaning of words has always been challenging for you so I suppose I just wasted some more electrons.
