Ya, agreed. Less volatility is better even that means price is rising slower. There had been too many occasions where SP rose 10-20% on good news before crashing back down and ended even lower on the same/next day.

Looks like money is flowing back into stock market again as many believe inflation has peaked. Many tech stocks IPO'ed last year are rising e.g. Wise, Deliveroo, Alphawave, OxfordNano.

When I saw the TR1, I thought "Let's see who sold shares this time, is it Vanessa again?". To my surprise, it's a buy from Legal and General of 36M shares or roughly £128M. This is a mega deal and Legal & General is a big, established fund. More funds will follow, I'm bullish.

I beg to differ, I don't think it will drop towards 300p. I feel there's more buy than sell overall, but buying lost momentum in the afternoon and short term traders who've been eyeing to sell at earning update, started taking profit. If SP finishes green today (which is a first in last few updates and worth celebrating on its own), then the SP should grow gradually towards 400p.

With so many variables going round in the world, it is fair to say that no one can correctly predict SP more than a few weeks ahead. But from the look of it, there may be chance of achieving net profit for full year in September which is only slightly over 7 weeks away. We will be closer to 400p than 300p in 2-3 months time.

As traders are not in action today, this presents a true test for appetite among retail investors. After the initial dip, the SP has been steadily increasing with a large 150k buy at 8.46am. The result is good, so I expect more wise investors to follow suit. On a good result like this, it is normal for SP to up by over 12% . The SP has hit 360p which is 7%, hopefully this keeps going now without manipulation from traders.

Now it make sense, the trading update happened later in conjunction with the new product launch and new branding of website and logo.

The trading update is quite lengthy, haven't scrutinised the numbers but all things look good. Company is still growing despite impact from strong dollar. New management members have strong background. New products in pipeline. I don't see cause for concern. If the market is working as it should, SP should go up.

Charles, Darktrace is 1.2p (-0.36%) down today.

Apart from 300k at UT and a singe 1M at 10 minutes market closed, the total volume stands at only about 140k, the lowest ever I've seen. I guess this is what a true share market look like when traders are on holiday or the computers that run bots melted by heatwave :)

Yes, and Netflix rose 8%. I was optimistic about Netflix. Now the investors have calmed down and reset the expectation, a mediocre result should not cause a panic. Personally, I think Netflix's oncoming result would improve because I re-subscribed to watch Umbrella Academy and there must be others are doing it for Stranger Things and other hit shows. When my Darktrace shares break even, I might even sell some to buy Nasdaq stock.

On the other hand, there's a sizeable UT buy of 3.76M yesterday which was not seen for weeks, I take it as a good sign.

My speculation is that perhaps they move to releasing RNS after market closes in line with US practice. This would give investors more time to digest the content to avoid making impulsive decision.

On the other hand, today's SP is strong with low volume, feel the mood has changed and I'm feeling hopeful now.

FYI, legally companies on LSE are only required to do bi-annual reports - half and full year. The trading updates like the one we waiting, are volunteered by Darktrace, there is no fix date and our guesses are based on trading updates done in the past year. We aren't even half way through the month yet (which, FYI is tomorrow). If there is still no RNS tomorrow morning, then I'll send an email to their investor relation team for clarification.

Let's stop replying to the topic with scaremongering title about trading update.

I thought people ignore buy rating nowadays, there are stocks with multiple buy ratings and yet the price is still sinking everyday. Anyway, I'm glad about Darktrace's performance today. In fact, despite the recent drop, Darktrace is actually top performing stock with smaller YTD loss than Apple, Google, Microsoft etc. I really hope tomorrow will see the breakout that we've been waiting for.

All the big fall recently happened after 2.30pm, so I believe they are not short seller but panic American investors. SentinelOne has just fallen 9% today. Tomorrow is a big day with two big events - (potential) trading update and US inflation data. Personally I'm not worried about the business, so I expect SP to go up in the morning, whether the SP will come crashing down or not will heavily depend on the US market that opens in the afternoon.
