Darktrace handled it badly. I believe the leak came from Darktrace as TB would never want the SP to go up before making an offer. Now looking back the form 8.3/8.5, the big shareholders offloaded some of their shares, they must have known. They will buy them back. But, still, I lay most blame on the people who dumped relatively mild volume of 300k shares for 360p which triggered the avalanche.

I've just top up tiny bit at around 346p. It only bring down my average by a few p but I can now say proudly my average is only £3++ (fact is £3.995). It is not the first time the SP be so volatile, I've learned when not to sell and now is not the time. One next thing I should really master is .. when to sell.

Never mind October result, today's result is already excellent. As answered in Q&A, the Federal division is not expected to generate revenue in H1. So although the business is expected to be strong, but I don't expect surprise in the next trading update. Darktrace has laid out the full year result, it is now only up to the market to decide what they want to do with it. One possibility is a large UT today and SP goes up tomorrow.

What I got wrong:
- I was too certain about having an offer. Thought weak pound would make TB to write a blank cheque.

What I got right:
- there's no other bidder
- TB didn't know about latest earning

What's next to watch?
The stock is clearly oversold, it should never have fallen below SP before the acquisition rumour. No doubt SP will rebound but whether it is today, or it will continue slipping for a few more days will heavily depend on this afternoon when US market opens. USD is still strong, Nasdaq was up, Darktrace result is fabulous. That should attract some US investors.

Darktrace mentioned about TB in the beginning of the pre-recorded webcast, so I believe they both agreed to announce the termination in conjunction with full year result. Perhaps the idea was to dampen the impact but...

sheltie, it is easy to make CR888 a scapegoat but the fact is, he didn't cause the offer to collapse, and you weren't right either with your prediction. His wrong doesn't make you more right. In fact, I think both of you were right, but representing the different sides. Darktrace may think it is worth 800p but TB is in your camp and think it is only 500p and hence could not reach an agreement.

You and I, and many long termer here did not buy because of Charles. I, and many, occasionally put up warning to newbies to not take opinion from others, they did it at their own risk. To be honest, I don't have sympathy for oppurturnists whose gambles went sour. Of course I took a heavy blow too as my average is similar to yours, but I'm quite at peace now because it was my own opinion and decision to hold.

There are many new names who seems to have no understanding of Darktrace nor the industry and making stupid comments. Yes, like 55555. You may have taken the gamble hoping to make quick profit. Now the show is over, you may leave now. Please take your rant elsewhere.

I predict the SP will fall off a cliff when market opens. It is difficult to predict how deep the fall is but I don't think it is sub £4. Supported by good result and yesterday's nasdaq it should then slowly rise up.

Given the weakness of pound, it is not unreasonable for the board to demand higher price north of 900p.

For those who is not following, the next acquisition target has been unveiled- GB group. Share price rose 45% in 2 days. It is a shame that Darktrace didn't rise that much.

Should the government increase its spending in the cybersecurity sector, some of the big hitters there could also benefit.

One of the larger firms that is publicly listed, and could stand to benefit from the increased budget, would be Darktrace PLC (LSE:DARK).

Valued at over £3.5bn, the technology company specialises in cyber-defence and was upbeat on full-year guidance as the war in Ukraine increased demand from nations to bolster their cyber security protocols and infrastructure.

I'm no tax expert but I suppose the price difference constitute benefit-in-kind and they will have to pay tax on that. It is not that different from cash bonus, would you reject the cash bonus because you'll need to pay tax on that?

I managed to get someone removed from the board after he launched personal attack on me. I think this is also the reason Charles used to get the posts removed. Having said that, I don't his behaviour is compelling reason to get him removed. I had filtered him many times in the past but I found the green boxes were even more irritating. Now I've learned to skim over his posts especially the long ones.

This is a must have surviving skill on this board.

As part of employment package, employees are offered shares for free or to buy at discounted price. Those shares are held at the fund. When i worked at a large US company, we were able to buy shares at price that is x% lower than the lowest share price in the last 6 months. It is only when they pay to redeem, then only the shares belong to them a.k.a transfer the ownership.

NewKOTB, you have misunderstood. Those are the price the employees exercised their option, in other words, they are buying the shares at pre-agreed, discounted values. The shares are then now belong to the employees.
