Oil trades down up to 4:30pm UK time everyday, then lo and behold it rises over the evening. Happens every single day. Utterly dull

Annual dividend is 5.5% at this level. So you show me a bank account that pays you that. And the majority of people aren't buying it for the divi, they are buying it because it is an undervalued stock on a fundamental basis, hence the majority of broker recommendations in the 600-700 range. The divi is just an added incentive.

500 only usually holds for a day or two. Its not a real resistance, just psychological. I'd imagine we will push straight through this tomorrow or Wednesday.

Some of the shorts were put on at around the 400 level, so not the best of decisions from those boys. Why anyone enters a short at historic low levels is beyond me, might as well just give their money away.

I have no issue with a high level of short interest. I take a bit of a contrarion view to it. I'm happy with the fundamentals, and as the fundamentals reassert themselves (which they seem to be doing now), that high short position actually adds positive momentum to share price gains, as there are more people who need to buy back. So more people buy in as they believe plus shorters close out. Its increases buying pressure and allows the price to rise more quickly.

The reality is that all the bad news is out of the way now. Any more releases will be contract wins, SFO updates, or potentially takeover approaches. So its a case of sitting back and watching this finally recover to sensible levels. And in the meantime bring on the juicy divi.

I'm personally not worried at all about another RNS. We all know this share never reacts how we'd think with an RNS so quiet is good as far as I'm concerned. Even with no news its still undervalued, and the share price is just rebasing. I'd expect 550 even with no more news (bear in mind we are still below where we were when we won the last billion dollar contract!)

Its not a resistance by the way. In December it flew straight through it without so much as a whimper. Its a big round number yes, but no evidence its an actual resistance.

RDR. The dollar move is virtually irrelevant. Its been moving in a 1-2% range for a while now, and when you translate that into actual difference in the divi payment in pounds, its negligible. I will be getting c�10k in divis and a 1-2% move in the dollar will have at most a +-�200 impact, small fry. If in doubt you can always choose to be paid it in dollars anyway.

The amount of times I hear people say I sell before ex divi and buy back cheaper is uncountable. 50/50 chance of being right. But you still have to pay trading costs. So basically zero point messing about. I guarantee you week before ex divi you will hear sell now as will drop on ex divi.. Every time...

Shorts don't sell on divi ex date as usually share price drops by same amount. However on payment date it goes up as people reinvest. From experience nothing to be gained selling unless you are a day trader. As an investor the annual divi is excellent

What do people make of these rumours on stamp duty changes likely to be announced today? Supposedly changing to the progressive Scottish system where its no tax for first £130k but then 10% for any value over £250k. Makes it easier to get on the ladder but the tax bill for anything 250+ is astronomical. I just bought a house for £400k and if it changes to the Scottish system it would have cost me an additional stamp duty tax of £5300!

I bet there are quite a few people kicking themseleves if they sold ahead of the divi expecting it to drop by more than the divi value. The trends looking really good right now.

They must have got two different definitions out there. I'm on their homepage ftse co uk and it says "before" the Friday not after on that site. I guess we'll just have to wait and see which date they mean. "The FTSE 100, FTSE 250, FTSE 350 and FTSE 350 Yield Indices are reviewed on a quarterly basis in March, June, September and December based on data from the close of business on the Tuesday before the first Friday of the review month. The meetings to approve the constituents are held on the Wednesday before the first Friday in March, June, September and December."

Merger formed 7th August I believe, which would make it 18 trading days at the end of tomorrow at the cut off. I'm not 100% sure the rule is applied this way but seems likely that it misses the assessment criteria by 2 days for this review. Good to go for the Dec review though

Good spot on the 20 day rule. I believe the cut off is actually tomorrow though (From the Ftse website "based on data from the close of business on the Tuesday before the first Friday of the review month". Am I right in assuming we will be ineligible in this review due to how long its been the new entity?
