Get what you are saying, every sane person wants shares they own to go up in value, but people on here aren't just sticking their finger in the air and saying the share is undervalued, ramping as you say, they are giving detailed reasons why the share is undervalued which is the more interesting bit.
There is nothing wrong with trading, but obviously a 'trader' will have more of a tendency to try to overhype value and then go into reverse mode to create volatility and movement in the share price. A share like SLM is ideal for them to do that at the moment, the fundamentals are good so you've got a story to work with and it is relatively low volume so doesn't take many buys or sells to start a trend. You say no RSN, no rise, but that is not strictly true. There has been a rise today on no RSN. Also I don't necessarily think you need short term traders to add liquidity, people can hold shares over a period and sell them adding liquidity without being 'traders' who dip in and out multiple times. Don't quite understand how short term traders protect us from the 'market manipulators'.
