The US are using that argument yeah, to excuse the ridiculous position they appear to have taken on Ukraine, a position i completely disagree with, and one that the European underspend doesn't justify.

Irrespective, Europe needs to spend more on Defence, a lot more.

At some point good intentions to bolster our military need to result in action.

Yeah, we have had some great relationships with the US.

Imo, the upshot of all this is Europe needs to man up, or get crushed.

It has no power nor influence as you say, can't combat Russian aggression, China, the Islamist threat, nor anything else.

It behaves like a kept housewife, dishing money to the latest charity craze, with a faux business sideline decorating cakes that doesn't even cover the school fees - moralising about recycling egg cartons, whilst buying designer gear made in sweatshops.

Defence spending needs to be a priority, cheap energy, steel production, food security - the basics.

No more importing Chinese wind turbines, because we've rendered production impossible in our own country, or shutting down vital industry, only to import the exact same product from abroad, simply in order to put the carbon on someone else's scorecard.

Who is going to fight for us when half the population think Britain is some sort of immoral, colonial, pariah?

Multiculturalism - actively encouraging people to identify first and foremost with a foreign nation, one that many haven't even visited - isn't much use during a conflict.

A recruitment drive for Hamas would probably get a better response than one for the British army.

Or we can just keep grumbling about Elon Musk's latest tweet and blaming the internet for everything.

Europe, less so the UK, but many in Europe are simply not pulling their weight.

America agreed to defend Europe when Europe was bankrupt after the war. We aren't bankrupt anymore.

It's not reasonable to expect American taxpayers to pay vastly more for Europe's defence, that many European nations do.

Independent, sovereign armies that cooperate against ta common enemy is fine - but when i hear European army it rings alarm bells for countries trying to pool resources rather than increasing their spending.

The - you buy the ships, and we can buy the planes idea sounds fine - until the country with all the tanks doesn't fancy it.

Re CoS, we know Paul doesn't want a lower SP - and is somewhat sensitive to SP movement.

An alternative array of soft targets exist - more so with newly gained knowledge re drilling fluids.

The SP is presently on a low, vulnerable - and with all active projects still requiring cash.

It follows that to drill this well, at this juncture, would make little sense - if Paul felt there was merely a slim chance of a successful outcome.

Therefore, i dont doubt that he personally attributes a 50% CoS to the drill, and suspect that in private conversation he may be even more bullish than he feels able to be publicly.

Hence the suggestion that the drill, or more specifically, the CoS one associates with it - is something of a bet on Paul himself.

Lots of guess work, but thats my thinking.

The CoS is gas to surface, not volume. To be clear - this is completely incompatible with the notional 50% CoS, on the basis of a sliding scale re volume.

The table comprises the various components required for an effective reservoir, the migration component is likely better than stated in the ITR due to source rock encountered in MOU4, and is considered a key risk factor. The percentages compound.

Imo, Paul, lacking data to support his claims, is actually being conservative when he states 50% CoS. Imo, he prob rates the well at 70% plus.

To some degree, one is betting on Paul's geological nous. Of the three wells thus far completed, gas has been encountered in each - though yet to be quantified.

The structure is huge, the upside correspondingly so.

The advantage of the lowly SP is that the downside is relatively limited. Swabbing to follow.
