Great post, although it seems that the IIs are getting out, realising that the game is up and leaving the PIs to carry the can.

Shame, there seemed to be genuine potential here with gas storage, before the chancer phoenix moved in. Dreams of building ships are just that.

The placing failed to raise the anticipated sum, despite a massive discount to the prevailing share price.

Since then, the share price has dropped by close to 10% below the offer price, suggesting that those who chose to swerve the placing were the smart ones.

It is one thing to advertise for new recruits; it is entirely another thing actually to employ them...

Surely we all remember the advertisements for all manner of tradespeople at Islandmagee in 2019 - how many were ultimately engaged?

I have been entirely consistent in my belief that INFA's focus should always be with Islandmagee and that I believe the H&W yards to be white elephants; at the time of the "acquisition" of Belfast, I stated that the only chance of H&W surviving was with the injection of public money, however that may be dressed up. I also acknowledged at the time that, should such funding be forthcoming, there was a chance of success. As time passes, both look less and less likely.

Having worked with shipyards, albeit somewhat tangentially, they are the last place I would want to place my money. I invested in an energy company, not large tracts of bankrupt sea-shore!

Your post makes eminent sense. One would hope that similar support funding would be available for domestic contracts. As I have said from Day One, H&W's only chance is public money and lots of it, quick!

Clearly, I am a masochist (so I am in clover today!).

I have been hoping that the granting of the marine licence (which looks less and less likely with each passing day) would give a bump to the share price, enabling me to get out at evens. With the way that things are "progressing", even the ML will see me way down.

A bigger white elephant, or rather small herd of white elephants, I have never seen. Still something left in the tank for Christmas bonuses though!
