no, i am not saying that willec. think of Antiques Roadshow Vs Bargain Hunt. in the former, the expert suggests a price and the seller will decide if they are then interested in selling. in the latter, the seller decides to sell and the competative buyers (if any) then set the ultimate price. Stifel's views hitherto were akin to the former situation. They are, to some degree, irrelevant now as the sale sign is up and the bidders are now considering their bids. (Though I do not think it is the case, I like Gary's point - some bidders, like M&P, could bid others up! - all depends on how bad someone wants an asset/going concern).
