Careful Hasiba - people we will think we are the same poster as we are thinking alike. As you may know I have a large position in Fres - haven’t seen you post on there - personally as silver as been falling over the weekend I can see Fres dropping again on Monday in which case I may be adding. I still think gold is a good investment although silver has industrial use so will benefit on the now more likely US/China trade deal being reported in the press as a gold play I prefer SRB but Barrick is a very safe call for the guys still holding after Monday.

Thanks P, doing very well with INDV and excited for October news - still hurting with MTRO but day trading has reduced my overall loss and still hopeful that things will turn but I obviously bought in too soon - strangely though the loss I am making there is not too dissimilar to the profit I made by selling my ACA shares when I did rather than holding them until Friday but that has required a lot more effort (and some concern) on my part. All the best with Barrick, I am sure you will do well and be able to sleep soundly at night.

So Monday is the last full day of trading. Goodness the end of an era. I still think you can’t go very wrong - gold has a secure future - there will be bumps in the road but with Barrick you have a diverse spread of the best gold mines in the world. ATB

I keep seeing this figure of 26% repeated, the shorts over 0.5 % are listed as 1.78% on short tracker so possibly double that figure with the smaller unreported positions. 737 million shares in issue so that is something between c 13 and 26 million. I can’t remember as I write what % is owned by our major shareholder who we can assume is not selling or lending shares but I think it is 75%. 25% in the public domain equals c 184 million so if we look at the shorts as a % of the free float then that is c 7 and 14% so what am I missing.

Hi Tiger, didn’t Albert also say that the only thing that had stopped (or delayed) the beautifully phrased ‘economic Ice-age’ was QE and with the latest news from Europe surely this is now on the back burner?

Well going on Barrick you should be trading at £2.33 not £2.41 and rising - perhaps the market is taking into account the dividend? Remind me when does this deal complete?

I am struggling to understand the sudden disconnection between ACA and Barrick today - you should be at £2.39 not £2.47?

Unusually for me I am trading MTRO on the dips and not doing too badly with them at the moment. I will not sell buy I am watching closely here and it is not beyond the bounds of reason that I could buy a few - but not today.

Yes Volcano - I have been reading about that over the last few days - quite an amazing offer even dwarfing the RB settlement. The news and speculation must have helped to push the price down here but a totally different case/set of circumstances to that faced by INDV. Roll on 4th October.

Me too Franky. Even the worst of ‘Yellow Hammer’ would have less effect than the constant fear that has been generated by the unknown even our children are being affected and that it just outrageous. Politicians and media have a lot to answer for.

On Barrick close ACA should be £2.36 and you should fall during the morning to a figure closer to that - obviously depending on PoG movements.

Guys I totally agree - this company needs to stand or fall on what it can deliver now - if things are as we hope then news should reach us very soon - constant frenzied hype is pointless and distracting.

Dimi - I agree that the fundamentals in relation to our peers are good but I just feel I am on the wrong side of this and the wise early investors are exiting to invest their profits elsewhere. I will stick with it for now but the simple fact that I am not adding at the lower SP speaks volumes. If another opportunity comes up whereby I can convince myself that my loss on sale is recouped by a stake in a alternative oversold stock I am likely to switch. ATB

I don’t disagree Franky, I was just putting a worst case ‘Yellow Hammer’ figure forward - I still believe that the momentum is positive and I really hope that we are right.

Hi Super. Not back in but getting tempted although I am fairly sure that if I took the plunge then I would be buying Barrick shares directly. We have long speculated that interest rates will fall and that the bull run of equities will have to end potentially leading to recession (I also agree that by some measurements we are already in one) and that will be good for gold - we also have to accept that a 17% rise in gold over such a short period will lead to bumps in the road - the decision is when will things turn again? My long term view is that gold will hit $1900 but I just don’t know when and have to consider it may hit $1300 or less again before then. I am heavily invested in Pm’s foolishly increasing my position substantially just before the last dip so I personally need the dust to settle before I make another move. I have diversified into other sectors as well - something I know you had done already and I probably feel better by not having all my eggs in one basket especially with INDV a defence stock currently on its knees but with significant news due on Oct 3rd so I will probably wait to see how that plays out before making any decisions. ATB

Just read your previous heading - I don’t understand why you believe you would get more shares - as I read it you get 0.168 Barrick shares for each ACA surely the number of shares remains fixed whatever the SP? On Barrick close yesterday it would suggest that ACA’s SP should fall to £2.34 unless there is anticipation that Barrick price will open higher to reflect that PoG is up $2.32.

Yes sorry M - this is my most disappointing investment. I don’t understand why the SP is quite so poor - I am not adding as would be my normal response to the fall but will hold for now although unlikely to be a long term investment for me. At this price you may have more luck but if PM stock is on your radar look also at SRB and FRES. I accept we were not on the list, I simply looked at the Market Cap which easily get us over the entry requirements - perhaps some procedural reason why but hopefully next review will put us in the 250.

I think the Speaker was instrumental in setting up the pantomime - his partisan antics are a large part of the reason nothing has yet been resolved - I too will be very pleased when he finally leaves. He facilitated the antics of the back benches seizing control yet he complains loudly when the Government follow his lead - we had a situation whereby the opposition had control without responsibility - a government without a majority is useless and lays itself open to abuse ie other parties and 5th columnist’s dictating the laws that the government then have to follow. We need an election so the government of whatever colour or persuasion can have a working majority and we can get on with business - nothing is or will happen with the other issues of the day until Brexit is resolved.
