Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Let’s face it we knew that ABDX could not hold news back pending the results so should not have expected significant announcements. What we have received is tacit confirmation that the dispute with HMG is nearing resolution and further confirmation that significant PO are held pending TT. They had to mention the possibility of raising funds as matters are not finally resolved but with the news of pending resolution on the table I believe a fund raise is now very unlikely.
Tacit confirmation from Dam that home testing kits coming soon. Nice find Croydonboy.
Flashy, it is normal in situations like this for Landsdown to receive a simple fee rather than per unit figure. Very hard to guess what that fee might be but something like £100k would not be unreasonable we will not know until we see the accounts. Others have commented that they are disappointed that the RNS did not include numbers, again the omission of figures is perfectly normal. We can speculate that it returns us c£2 per unit which is of the figure we have been basing our forecasts on for some time. Today’s RNS will give all genuine holders confidence, I am sure there will be more news to come and I fully expect home use approval which will be dramatic.
Citizens of North Korea are told to eat less until the border with China reopens in 2025 following Covid shutdown.
A tweet showing someone scrolling through a ODX mobile app for a antigen test. Looked impressive to me. Some have suggested it could have been mocked up but why, for what advantage, I believe it all happened after close of business. We shall have to wait and see.
From Bloomberg tonight:-
‘A top Chinese hot pot chain has seen $4 billion in its market value evaporate in just three days as the government’s escalating Covid-19 curbs take a toll. Haidilao International Holding tumbled 7.5% on Wednesday to the lowest since March 2019”.
It’s far from over.
This has been my only brief comment today, not sure I contributed anything yesterday - how many times have you felt it necessary to comment?
That tweet has now disappeared - I just hope it was not a fake.
The list does not cover manufacturer’s.
Thanks Bigjock, I read the article and can think of a dozen reason why ODX will achieve the necessary approvals and no reason why they would be excluded.
Good morning TWatcher. You ask how I feel, well at the time you asked I am guessing that I was fast asleep so probably wasn’t feeling much of anything. I guess you mean how do I feel that there has been no comment from ODX, a little disappointed yes as if I were running the PR I would have released something but I’m not so I feel like anyone else that has stated an opinion on a chat board that has not come to pass within the timeframe they were hoping for and that is fairly ambivalent. Do I still feel that we will get a comment or update soon, yes. Am I still confident that the changes to the travel rules are to our benefit, yes. Am I frustrated that circumstances seem to have conspired over the last what, 12 months to delay any significant sales, yes but am I still confident that I will ultimately be very happy with my decision to invest, yes. Do I accept that I have no control over when that will be, yes. Will I hold until the news that I am expecting lands, yes I will. Have a good weekend everyone.
I spotted the spelling mistake but as this is a chat board and not a deposition I left it - I stand by everything else. You seem to have become a little nastier with your posts Hedgefun, everything ok?
Thanks for the info Tricky, please check in again with developments. We would probably all agree that the government approach has, once again, been a shambles but perhaps we should give them and ODX for that matter the day to sort it out. The change in policy should be great news and I firmly believe it will be, if so the SP is a gift.
I will certainly be accused of wearing my rose tinted spectacles but I feel sure we will get some sort of update today, hopefully a RNS but otherwise some Twitter comment from ODX. As others have pointed out their has certainly been a great deal of expectation that the government list would produce a serious uplift in the SP - it should have, it still might.
To be honest I am getting pretty fed up of making excuses for repeated c0ckups. I am beginning to think that anyone on this board could have set up a better, clearer more reliable and cost effective system than what has been offered by HMG. We have several high volume suppliers capable of producing a great test in volume, ODX, ABDX, Surescreen and GAD to name but 4. Give them the authority to supply the tests through pharmacy’s and potentially Amazon, allow a small number of reputable organisations to provide a the validation process at a reasonable cost and get on with it. If demand outstrips supply work with the chosen producers to increase capacity and consider other UK producers if absolutely necessary. Job done!
I get where you are coming from Senza but I had hoped for a simple system at reasonable prices after the debacle we have all experienced with the previous system. In my view we will only get significant, constant demand when profiteering has been eliminated from the market place and people can confidently buy a LFT at a reasonable price, including validation and postage for £25. £25 should give all parties involved a very reasonable profit and establish a fair market with longevity, whilst prices are still so high and confusion remains once again there will be a reluctance to establish a lasting market which is what we all want.
Don’t quite understand how you got that from the quote but happy to agree that demand will be significant, I had just hoped it would also be simple.
I had hoped that this time HMG were going to make it simple, evidently not:-
Charles HymasMaighna Nanu report
‘The Government’s switch from the more expensive PCR tests to cheaper lateral flow swabs for returning travellers is designed to give foreign travel a boost by saving families hundreds of pounds. But the analysis of existing providers reveals the costs range from £17.99 with 001 Expert Covid Testing UK, to £150 with the Private GP clinic in Sevenoaks, Kent.
At least half a dozen are pitched at £100 or more although the costs were inflated by offering a bespoke on-site testing service rather than the “click and collect at home” tests that the Government has allowed.
A significant number were also priced at £50 or more compared with all the major European destinations offering lateral flow tests at €30 (£25) or less.
Even the cheapest failed to disclose in their headline price advertised on gov.uk that package and posting will add £10 to the cost. Fully-jabbed holidaymakers will be able to use lateral flow tests on their return. If they test positive, they can get free PCR tests on the NHS to check their result.’
Well from what I have seen so far the tests seem to be priced at £25. We just need confirmation that ODX are supplying.
