I think in cities like London we will see other innovations. Quite easy to imagine a "Chargeroo" type service whereby someone comes and takes your car in the middle of the night (or whenever you ask them to), to a rapid charger nearby and return it so that it's there ready when you wake up.
Or you just ensure you arrive home with enough juice for the next day, like we all do with fuelled cars.
Also, as you suggest I think we could see private care ownership in big cities and more car clubs and shared vehicles, particularly with the higher capital cost of EVs.
I live in a rural area and am about to order a new car. All of the showrooms I've been to (cheaper end of the market) have said the majority of their enquiries are for EVs. I see more and more EVs on the road every day, adoption is accelerating fast.
