LOl,I certainly raised the temperature on here a few times without trying.It seems a lot calmer on here now as things are finally happening.Contrary to the belief of some I hope the mine is a success.Hats off to the management for limping along all these years {mainly due to NLR's cash).The future is bright--er.

Morar,I have not experienced these underground but I can see the benefits of ''reaming '' an existing adit. The regulations for use will be a lot less, safety in the use of these will be high and most important in my opinion is that there will be less damage to the roof.When conventional explosive go off it tends to shatter the surrounding strata .I don't know if Cononish requires roofbolting but if it does then the roofbolts would be longer and deeper if conventional explosives are used requiring more time and cost. Only my opinion here.

Good afternoon Morar and a sunny late afternoon in Auld Reekie it is.As a former mining electrical engineer,The reek from the blast underground would rarely take more than 5 minutes to clear..Non explosive explosives takes a while ie a lot longer than a quick blast.There will be practical reasons for doing this but it is certainly not to save time.

Non explosive explosives.Never seen them used underground before .Think expanding foam as in used around new windows only much stronger.Good for enlarging what is already there , going forward into virgin ground may be trickier.

Well saitoman, you have thought it out long enough.Good luck with it.I myself went at 60 and in hindsight wish I had went at 55.Hindsight is never there when you need it.My own experience with avc's was not good.18k paid in and 18k+6 quid out. Old pension scheme member (me included)can draw their pension at 50 after leaving the company,its reduced for early payment but that suits me fine,no point waiting till I am 65 to get the full amount when I can have Half of it 15 yrs earlier

Bicko,if a company had 1 million shares at £1 and they had a placing of 500 000 shares at 50p they would now have a company with 1,5 million shares worth 1.25 million pounds.when the share come on the open market they would start at 83.333p.Hope this answers your question.
