David Budd did say that once National Commissioning is in place it makes buying more of a routine activity in the NHS!!
The financial cost of ''a'' Cochlear Implant alone costing £65,000 per patient, makes the financial justification case in its self. Let alone the massive patient benefits - saving their hearing - cannot put a price on this.
David Budd did say that Hospitals/Trusts are use to cash being made available through National Commissioning, and they are not so use to justifying their individual expenditure. A saving of circa £5,800,000 per year to the NHS, has been estimated in not having to use Cochlear Implants, and saving Babies from Permanent Hearing Loss - No Brainer!!
