But how many? If there was substance to the numbers Boris would not have simply said some people are now in hospital in the UK. He would have said something like 30% of people with omicron are being treated for covid symptoms. The wording was very careful. Very careful. On the balance of probabilities, present enough people with omicron and you will have some of them in hospital. And on top of that, you might find some actually are being treated for omicron.

SA has been reporting hardly anybody confirmed with omicron being treated in hospital and as far as I am aware nobody has yet died from it. Specifically died of omicron. Not died of a heart attack with no symptoms but then tested to find they were carriers.

Something is not adding up here. I'm a scientist by education in physics and with respect know my way around probabilities and interpreting scientific declarations. This is not adding up and the claim that they need weeks and weeks is a basic lie. These days the simulations that can be performed replicating the actions of biological structures is remarkable. They can theorize the actions of those proteins in hours with parallel computing.

Something is not adding up.

Valueplay, it is not about stopping the spread, and a 0% claim is a bit strong and suspect. My instinct to that claim is immediately suspicious. Claiming no protection? And even Pfizer being so low at 35%?? That looks to me more like omicron is actually a different virus, not a variant. What's more, the moment the genome was sequenced, if there was so little protection, the boffins would have been able to say so almost immediately because of the way the chemistry and biology works. Thinking about it, if that really is a genuine number, then it is a new covid, covid 21. It would have to be radically different. If fact, was it genetically engineered to come up with such a fantastic failure rate.

The actually critical question is what are the symptoms and how life threatening are they. Vaccines have never stopped people contracting a disease. They have never worked like that. They arm the bodies immune system to be able to fight a virus and most of the time keep it's kinetics below a runaway threshold. And then when the virus takes hold the body has a fighting chance to keep the progress under control so that the symptoms that result due to the action of the immune system do not overwhelm the body. So I want to know how well Astra protects and helps fight the virus in the body.

The world is running around in circles chasing it's tail trying to stop the spread.

But why not the Astra jab? Why has Astra been sidelined? Especially since Astra arms the T cells and Pfizer doesn't. I can get the idea of boosters, we have them for a wide range of other vaccines although normally years apart. But what makes me curious is why Pfizer and why paid so much? Now we have a panic hype to rush as fast as possible to get people boosted for a variant that is by all reasonable reports mild. Now he said that there were patients in with omicron in UK hospitals. There are also people with a very wide range of problems in hospital that also test positive for covid, but covid has nothing to do with the reason why they are in hospital. And did you notice no reference to numbers. It was supposed to be a put down on the 'stories' about omicron not being a hospital issue. He is well and truly under the spell of his close advisors and is not taking in any other information.

It is down to the backbenchers on Tuesday, but as I posted earlier Labour will not press for a confidence vote as it is not convenient for them at this moment.

Why not the Astra booster? Why pay over the odds for Pfizer? I need to make so calls tomorrow and try and get some ideas as to what is going on. Definitely Boriss is on the ropes, how would buying Pfizer save him?

They are chasing the spread of a virus. Yiu can't stop the spread. And a neatly side stepping of the extent of symptoms. This is just one massive con.

There is no point in the new age totalitarian climate change reset going any further. They are busted and people are getting very agitated. We are now a few weeks into omicron, the kind of time span the so called experts were saying was needed to learn about the variant effects. Note, they are still playing for time pushing back the big reveal dates into many more weeks and even months. They are taking us for fools.

It is a fair point about the season, but northern hemisphere countries are also reporting omicron patients with the same mild symptoms. Only the rate of spread may be different. But then would we try and stop the spread of cold or flu with lockdowns and social restrictions?

The people reporting form SA on Omicron can hardly be described as 'third world'. They have one of the most advanced genome sequencing setups in the world. It is why they picked up the variant!

Gavin, Labour could bring down the government on Tuesday. They won't for the simple reason they don't want a winter election. They also haven't dealt with the red wall issue yet. It is not convenient for Labour. They also have the wrong leader in place. Labour won't attempt a non confidence vote until Stammer is removed. I understand from people close to Labour in Westminster that the plan was to remove Stammer by spring, and then piggyback on extensive mass protests over early Spring aiming for a May election. In the meantime Labour will support and indeed press quietly for as many harsh restrictions as possible in order to wind up such an opposition that the mass protest will happen as the weather improves. They might have to bring that forward though because the protests are kicking off in a big way all over the place, in places not noted for protesting. This of course could have been the plan of the small group I was hearing, but Stammer's future is less secure than Boris'. Boris is a gift that keeps on giving for Labour.

And I note that there is a significant awakening about what the face mask is all about. When it was used as an prominent visual anti-Trump icon, it was turned into a forced wearing but still referenced as a personal choice protest display for some time. The reintroduction of mask wearing has been spread around the planet again as it is actually used as a message carrier to others implying there is something to be worried about and enforce submission and compliance. The backlash is well underway. I walked through a couple of shops yesterday without any mask. No challenge, about 20% of people were not wearing and a number of staff too.

As for removing our susceptible PM who failed to stand up to the lockdown and mask lobby again, I said last week too much political capital had been spent over the party story, there were no names, no numbers, and critically no pictures. The latest one is very weak and whilst there are spirited attempts to big up the fact he briefly joined a virtual quiz session, it is a long way off the gravity needed. Tuesday could be interesting. It is the vote on the recent lockdown measures. How many will stand up in the house and start raising the truths coming out of SA? Will we see challenges now directly against the SAGE and whether they are in fact as honest and independant as claimed? Labour have decided to vote with the government so a defeat is very unlikely. The moment has gone. And anyway, Boris is just one spanner in the works. It is GOVE who is the trouble. He is the nudge theory master and power munger. He is the one playing everybody for fools without being seen to be doing so. He is a master manipulator and is the one who must be removed if we are to be free of this madness of lockdowns and superspreading mask wearing.

Not sure they are great from a battery pollution point of view that will be coming down the road, but the point that they are not right for everybody and the not at this time is quite true. They have a place at the start of what should be a fifty plus transforming period. Oil will run out, therefore alternative fuels will come along. But forcing them and in such a very short time span is the wrong way. Hydrogen cars have an issue with the very short supply of palladium for the catalysts so time is needed for the development of alternative ways to use the Hydrogen, even as a combustion gas.

What should have happened some years ago was all cars fitted to run on dual fuel, LPG and petrol. LPG is less of a pollutant and can be derived from a range of sources from coal to gas reservoirs. Alongside that some level of battery assist could be added, as with hybrids - although 80% of hybrid owners have never plugged in the charger! Petrol would eventually be phased out and either another combustible fuel source like hydrogen is introduced or battery technology is given the time to be developed and a charging infrastructure laid out. And that infrastructure will need to be the equivalent of a second national grid to every doorstep and parking space - - how much carbon needed to mine and refine all that copper???? The idea of rechargeable cars all switched by 2030 is just nuts. Even switching to H2 as a combustion fuel for modified cars would be a hell of a job.

Any analysis of any option shows huge issues when trying to force it by 2030. And before very significant damage is done to societies this needs to be brought out for realistic open discussion. Remember, this isn't a sell for a few people to be converted and some token contribution made, the policy is to BAN fossil fuelled cars by 2030 then hybrids 5 years latter.
