Interesting reading the comments of the 'damage limitation squad' at the bottom of the DM article. I wasn't aware of this event. If it is old news dragged up, then what do you call the accusations against the tories? There are two open bottles of wine in the picture, the woman eating has cheese on sticks indicating a buffet, the man is talking beyond her, Stammer is talking to people across the room out of shot and to the closer woman indicating a fair few people in the room. Also, the claims it is an office are questionable since the woman would be obscured by a computer monitor if she was at her desk.

This is the tip of a rather ugly iceberg. The only thing that bothers me about the whole affair is that there seems to be a very definite moratorium on reporting of the other political parties 'gatherings'. Hospitality is very routine. There are work rules of no drinking before 6.30pm but like a lot of offices, if you are working late food is often ordered in. Many places allow alcohol for staff 'trapped' in the office. It is a cheap way of not paying overtime. I know, I've lavished piles of pizzas, beers and wine on teams on many occasions working to midnight instead of paying them overtime. Muppets thought they were onto a good thing, ha!

I think Boris must go not because of the out of hours work set-up in Dowing St, but because he has been found to be weak in the when sold crap by experts and has failed to stand up to them, except over Christmas. We continue with appalling levels of restrictions because of this. This also feeds through to a weakness in dealing with Brexit. Yes he 'got it done' but since then he has been kicked around by the Soviet EU like a football. We need to be properly out based on the behaviour of the EU, drop the trade deal and go to WTO rules. Watch the soviets back peddle then! With that we need BA 'rescued' from the EU - I'd be very happy to take a long term pension paying position with an independant BA, but I don't like the IAG part of the present setup. The EU is massively corrupt and intensely nationalistic and politically jealous of the UK and I have reservations of what it might do to BA as it seeks to prop up legacy carriers. That is on top of the debt mountain.

This is a big story and may give very significant leverage in the EU Soviet instructing the satellite states in the pact to remove all barriers to completely free traffic - masks, all testing, quarantines, red lists, the lot.

The commission is clearly in a bind. They are obviously trying to protect some airlines' slots from the budget airlines. The only way to fill the seats will be to completely remove all restrictions. Even just one test is too much and puts off a lot of travellers. It is getting very close to formal announcements, pandemic over. Otherwise hundreds of these kinds of lockdown problems are going to persist and there is no more room damaged industries. It is crunch time!

I am beginning to think it is almost inevitable we will be hearing about aircraft landing incidents because of 5G. An issue is being flagged by instrument manufacturers whilst the networks are pushing for roll out. Let's just hope there is no loss of life before the 5G is turned off. Last thing the airlines need now are planes in pieces all over the runway.

Yes I heard all this talk of the numbers look like they are plateauing. Talking heads are in denial. If you turn your head on it's side 90 degrees and look at the case number chart, hospitalisation chart or deaths chart, then you can make the plateauing argument. To the rest of us, it's dropping like a stone. I think SA has actually called omicron over and the pandemic finished. It's like it was in December, we had prima facie evidence from SA yet the rest of the worlds experts just didn't want to know. Same again, the truth is right there in front of all of us but still the experts go ion as if there is some sort of elevated academic twist that the great unwashed couldn't possibly understand which means the data in front of us is some sort of smoke screen. Most of these experts are literally playing us for fools. They are very slowly getting called out here and there, but their untouchable status needs to be taken on full frontal. It has led to a lot of violent disturbances all round the world with leaders slavishly following expert guidance. It is exactly the same in climate change. Exactly identical. ANd as the back pocket cost of all that environmental crap creeps up on people, questions begun to be asked.

One important note, the gods of TV will never accept responsibility. They set the narrative but as the backlash gathers momentum and the conclusion that most of the lockdowns had no impact at all, you can bet the media finger will point elsewhere. I mentioned the other day, the collapse of the Italian health system at the start of the pandemic caused the doomsday reaction elsewhere and it is mentioned in the article. Whilst the gods of TV might be able to hide from responsibility for the earlier part of the pandemic, they can't hide from omicron.

The questioning is slowly breaking through, like the Rees Mogg comments. But TV has a lot to cover up here and stories like party-gate are a perfect diversion. I remember the culture right across Whitehall, especially in the House and Downing St was that there was frequently 'hospitality' laid on because what looks like after work socialising was anything but due to the weird hours of government. Some would say work extended to various bedrooms too!!!! And have you noticed what has been missing up until today? I can tell you now ALL the other political parties have identical gatherings and always have. The opposition parties shenanigans have been very much swept under the carpet, until today. I have posted before, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. It's taken a long time to see some of the other sides playtime.

We should be concentrating on getting all restrictions opening up and ending lockdown forever. Not be distracted by a well crafted presentation of 'parties' at Downing St by an embittered ****** who thinks he is some sort of king maker.

So, it is now completely understood, omicron is mild and has little impact on health care systems. But all around the world the panic knee-jerk lockdown continues. It is as if people do not want to hear that it is safe to let it rip and move to herd immunity. It is a paralysis of leadership, rabbits caught in media camera head lights. It is part of what is clearly a pan global problem with all democratically elected leaders terrified of the gods of TV disapproving of pandemic strategy. The one-sided polarisation of the US media [bar Fox] has been exposed due to the existence of Trump and the social media belatedly 'outed' as a message manipulator as it finally went authoritarian in public banning various high profile people. I am very surprised at just how far leaders and politicians worldwide cower to their local media TV gods. This is important because we need a fast and rapid exit to restore, especially, aviation to pre pandemic norms. But there are still countries extending lockdowns and even introducing new extensions!!!

Interviews on R4 this morning, light weight cross examination of the 'experts' who are still playing the game that everything they say is gospel. But there were a couple of direct questions, 'what went wrong with your predictions'. They are still trying to play it was impossible to know game, despite the SA data. The way deaths are counted is also being revisited.

Whilst the experts are going to get away with most of 2020 and early 2021 lockdown advice, it gets more and more difficult as 2021 progresses. Then omicron! The experts are going to be turned over. Those gongs were given too early.

I should add I think it won't be governments so much making the vaccine rule, it will be travel insurance companies. No vaxx, no cover!

I doubt it will ever be about allowing travel to a country based on vaccine take up. But it will be about whether the individual passenger is. Like before, you wouldn't expect a country to had the entire population vaccinated against, say, typhoide before allowing travel there. Instead, the individual traveller is vaccinated. The inequality in vaccine distribution is following the same pattern as pre-pandemic. Covid may shake up the system a bit better so vaccinations of all kinds are rolled out a bit faster in future.

dandy, I would suspect there maybe a little more added next week as the announcements on restrictions being lifted accelerate. The more they are in the news, wherever they are, the more other governments will feel able to justify getting out of the hole. A bit of a domino effect to the end of the month when I expect large scale withdrawal from all restrictions. There isn't one single pied piper at the moment, but China may take the reigns as they have the Winter Olympics this year and may use that in some way with omicron data to just end the pandemic. America is in a complete mess as their politicians and leaders are jostled by the TV gods and UK and EU pulled one way then the next in a mass game of thrones lobby war. But I would expect by the end of Feb, most restrictions worldwide gone and elevated talk of no more even if the next variant is a killer. It can't be stopped so vaccination will be king.

This article says so much. The pig headed lies of the commission. And the obstinance to be doing things different form the UK just to try and look independant. The result, a stupid situation with thousands of empty aeroplanes flying around the skies. What a throw back to the wine lakes and butter mountains, now we have ghost flights.
