RE: chemical weapons10 Mar 2022 13:28
Russia could be setting up the chem W propaganda so when they use them they can say they were US arms in Ukrainian use that went wrong. However, I think this will be an escalation too far for China and they will end it. China has been subtly shifting position last couple of days. Russia could also be using the chem W stories as a way to justify nukes against what it will claim was a chem W attack being prepared.
Of course, the chain of command must follow the orders and press the launch buttons. I think if Russia actually launched and denoted either, China would be allowed a day or two to get the war stopped with immediate withdrawal of Russian forces. If that doesn't happen I think the full whack of nato air forces would go in and knock out anything Russian that could possibly launch another weapon. Russian subs will either surrender to Chinese forces or be hunted and destroyed. If Russian did launch ICBMs I expect most to be successfully intercepted. Remember nato has early warning for targeting much earlier than during Soviet times, with radar much deeper in old Soviet bloc countries. I think only Ukraine would get hit anyway as a parting shot of anger from Putin as Russia is rapidly overwhelmed and crushed by nato forces from the west, and Chinese forces from the east. I also think once nato goes in, all the 'stans' in the middle and south will settle some old scores with Russia and loads of communities will take the chance to breakaway. Russia will be reduced to a small part of what it used to be in the west and find itself 'demilitarised' for maybe 100 years to come. It is clear Russian forces are vastly overrated and could be wiped out within a week or so.
