I can only assume that it is a reduction in people holding short cfd's or something such, unless anybody has a better idea?

Lloyd I think you are right about James Brearley. Looking at their site, they are a small firm in an area where there is a relatively lot of money but not that many people.

As for the other two, they look like city insider firms to me. It's very hard to find much info on them other than accounting stuff.

Good businesses get shorted all the times particularly on AIM, where there is virtually no regulation

If you want a simple example go look at LTG. Or look at what Blue Orca and shorters did to ALL.

Shorting should be allowed but it should be treated as a proper commercial activity. As a simple example they shouldn't be allowed to borrow shares for buttons, they should have to borrow under proper commercial loan terms.

They should also be prosecuted when they spread deliberate lies as Blue Orca did.
