I am lucky as I don't need divi to survive. However many pensioners rely on divi to top up their pensions. With this in mind how can bonus be justified?

I do admire your belief in BT.
However I have had bitter experiences in the financial sector who I now avoid. "case for suspending it further" These are similar words that banks use. "we need to invest, restructure , pay PPI, fines etc so divi is temporally suspended". More or less twelve years. Mean while Bonuses continue unabated.
I just feel BT are using a similar tactic, jam tomorrow. Life is not a dummy run, loss of two years divi is just that, loss.
Sorry for the negativity, just had enough of CEO,s and their excuses while lining their own pockets. Loss of divi should result in loss of any bonuses. Keeping the directors honest.

I now think BT`s woes are in part its stopping of divi. Why did they?
BT has not seen any significant drop in profits due to covid. Indeed BT,s usage may have gone up due to people working from home and still working from home.
Banks now have a terrible track record on divi payments going back twelve years. I hope BT are not mirroring banks strategy and using the same tactics to pay a pittance divi or reduce all together as has happened.
Fund managers need to pay pensions. No divi = do not buy and/or reduce holding share price collapses hitting holders with a double whammy. (no divi, reduced sp value ).
I now feel BT should resume divi ASAP. Otherwise I have a feeling they are not being honest, again mirroring banks.
Patience wearing thin with BT, I will exit when average reached.

Now, it is expected that CD&R will have to raise its bid to at least 275p per share – but this could rise to 280p to lock things in.
Explains why sp is hovering around 280p.

Could divi be because that will be the amount of profit mrw have accrued since last divi? They would be duty bound to pay it as it is shareholders money. Just thinking.

£89 billion by Easter is a very tall order is what I think. Been in and out of lloy since the crash and I have to admit all banks have been, by a country mile, my worst purchases. got out in profits but terribly slow due I think to terrible divi payments and future promises of "more jam tomorrow". Stopped watching BBC news for just that reason, Doom and disaster all over the world it their eyes. Something we can do nothing about.
