Cornsland, I think as part of the Cuba deal the USA agreed not to base missiles in Turkey. That part was kept quiet. ATM Russia is behaving like a thug imho. You can not appease bullies. Whilst on about law I think the BBC is a law unto itself. Attacking aviation whilst sending journalists all over the world. Highlighting fossil fuel use as damaging the planet but continuing to heat/ light their buildings with power provided by these fuels. I just find the BBC extremely Hypocritical. Its easy when your living is handed to you on a plate paid in full by a forced tax on a already overburdened public.

LTI, If you like the BBC then you pay for it. Tat should be the choice. There is so much media choice out there that who needs the guardian of morals the self-righteous BBC. Make it a subscription service and make the lovvies live in the real world. I still have memories of simple John Simpson entering Baghdad hospitals while we were at war with Irac. hardup, what ever Boris does the BBC is on him like a rash. The photo shows him sat at a garden table with his wife and a glass of wine to hand. I do not begrudge him this relaxation. The pressure he is and has been under are immense. I totally blame the BBC for the fuel shortage. A few garages run out of fuel and bingo the BBC starts spouting" fuel shortage but don`t panic" yeah right. A crisis of their making.
My point is I no longer trust the BBC to deliver unbiassed, impartial, unopinionated news. Hence the constant monitoring of Boris gets my goat. If they who worked at downing street had a glass of wine, who cares. There are more important issues to deal with. eg fuel prices, gas and electric prices, Russia, china and our good loyal friends the EU.

My TV licence is due. I really detest the idea of giving money to the BBC. They have hounded Boris since he became PM. It must be his fault covid came about not some bat eating pr4t in China. The BBC need scrutinising IMHO. Lets have a look at their climate change/ global warming preaching which now inflicts green tax's on us all. They fly journalists all over the world while telling us how bad aviation is for pollution. Of course journalism is "exempt" from pollution woes. Hypocrites.

To my eternal shame I voted Labour in 1997. Major was a complete buffoon surrounded by buffoons. However an old builder told me "Labour will leave country bust and in a shambles, they always do". I chose to believe Labour under Tony Blair had changed. Prudence Brown then gave pensioners 97p a week rise, very un-Labour like. However that all soon changed. He could not balance the books in the good years what chance did we have when things turned bad? The old salt was right.
I came to view Brown as a devious calculating old dinosaur anchored to the past, honest Tony describing him as "a floured character"
I know you are very knowledgeable on RR and want the company to do well as do I and not just because we have shares. I find the advances in fan blade and gearbox design fascinating and far advanced on others. RR future is bright, as usual just needs time. Take no notice of side swipes. I read your posts with interest. Nobody is forced to read anyone's posts. ATB.

Nearly fell of my chair laughing when I read that. Labour was so good for the economy that Brown sold half our gold for nothing then. Lowest price to. Next came a private pensions raid which many companies are still suffering from and was the cause of closure of many pension schemes. Brilliant. Council tax became a second mortgage under Brown, peeps have short memories. An illegal war in-between this to boot.
Labour did the same in the 60s/early 70s Dennis Healey stopped at airport because the UK was bust and he then had to go to the worlds bank and beg cash.
