1) This is the first time we have seen one of Scancells newer scientists, Foram Dave is presenting
2) This is the first time Scancell have presented research on GlyMab T cell redirecting bispecific antibodies
3) Looks like glycan mAb SC134 has been selected for development into a TCB antibody, possibly in lung cancer

The nomad role is primarily regulatory and requires approval from the London Stock Exchange. Neither Goldman Sachs or UBS are approved to act as nomads.

Stifel already were Scancell's joint broker alongside Panmure. Looks like they're retaining Panmure as joint broker but have replaced them as Nomad with Stifel.

I don't understand the logic behind that one and it's not a view I share.

Some peer reviewed research from MD Anderson has been published today: -

'Mining the Immunopeptidome for Antigenic Peptides in Cancer'

It's essentially looking at post translational modifications as a source of neoantigens for cancer vaccines. Unsurprisingly, Scancell's work features heavily in the paper with 6 citations. Worth reading the abstract, citrullination and cancer vaccine sections as well as the conclusion. We have researchers from one of the top ranked cancer research centres in the US reinforcing Lindy Durrant's work on Moditope . Hhighlights just how far ahead of the game she was when she discovered Moditope.

Have no idea how you managed to find that Chelsea - interesting and thanks for sharing, haven't seen those slides before. They've clearly been planning to add Sheffield and Taunton study centres for a good while now as the presentation was made back in June.

By the way, in case anyone is wondering who Simon is, it's just the name of the design of this particular type of trial - google 'Simon's two stage trial design' if you want to know more.

Scancell have said that initial efficacy data from this trial will be published in 2022. I hope that's still the case.

Thanks for the post last night and well spotted.

As posted back in August, this does explain Scancell's strategy regarding Richard Goodfellow's role as interim CBO. LD clearly planned to retire from UoN at age 65 and RG was brought in on a temporary basis to give added support whilst she was performing both roles. Highly likely this was part and parcel of the original plan when she agreed to take over as CEO and explains why they haven't yet recruited to fill the CBO role permanently.

A shout out for Chris Denning - thought his tweet was an excellent tribute and highlights not only Lindy Durrant's reputation, but also the high regard in which she was held by her colleagues.

All we know is that CD40 is considered a highly promising but difficult target. Several companies have mAbs in clinical trials and some have given up. Seagen has developed SEA-CD40 and as this is a proprietary drug, I assume that there must have been some element of co-operation from Seagen in allowing Scancell to enhance SEA-CD40 with Avidimab. I'm not sure we can read any more into it at this stage and need to wait and see what Scancell have to say.

Having said that, Redmile's involvement with Seagen is interesting and well spotted by marcus. According to Redmile's last 13f SEC filing, as at June this year, Seagen stock made up over 5% of Redmile's portfolio, so pretty significant. Next 13f filings are due in November which will detail their holdings as of September.

Looking forward to reading more when the full abstract is published, but it looks like glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78), also known as HSPA5 is a new target for Moditope. Worth noting that GRP78 is overexpressed in many cancer types including lung, breast, colon and liver cancers with glioblastoma having the highest levels of overexpression.

Abstract titles have been published today for the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer's Annual Meeting in Boston this November. Scancell are presenting a poster in the Novel Single-Agent Immunotherapies category. Title of the poster is

'Citrullinated glucose-regulated protein 78 is a novel candidate target for cancer immunotherapy'

Really good to see Scancell presenting new research at one of the more high profile conferences.

Interesting RNS this morning from Redx.

IPF is a dreadful disease which is progressive and eventually terminal. Life expectancy is in line with some cancers, so it's good to see RXC007 performing well in preclinical and phase 1 studies. Even better that the results of these studies have led Redx to widen the scope of the forthcoming phase 2b study to include other fibrotic lung diseases.

ROCK2 is upregulated in many diseases and organs affected by fibrotic disease. It's therefore a promising target but has been difficult in terms of drug development. The very first ROCK2 inhibitor (Belumosudil)was approved by the FDA last year for chronic Graft vs Host Disease. The company involved, Kadmon was very quickly acquired for $1.9 billion by Sanofi. AFAIK Redx is the only other company with a ROCK2 inhibitor in the clinic and in preclinical testing RXC007 was more potent than Belumosudil.

Sanofi weren't the only ones interested in acquiring a ROCK2 inhibitor. There were 3 interested parties and Sanofi had to up their offer twice. If Redx have indeed developed a superior drug in RXC007 then it bodes well for future deals.
