Yes, as far as we know there are 4 abstracts being presented at CICON19 .

It's not a particularly big conference but it is a high quality scientific conference with some very high profile names from academia and industry alike and so should attract attention. Presenters with a link to LD are Ira Mellman (Genentech), Cornelis Melief (ISA), Ugur Sahin and Özlem Türeci (BioNTech).

Regarding the abstracts, they have to contain previously unpublished research and will remain embargoed until the conference organisers publish them either at the time of, or shortly before the conference. Don't think it would be the done thing for Scancell to start tweeting about them yet but they may make some announcement at the time or at least post the abstracts on their website when available.

One final point, we know from the AGM recording that the subject of one of the abstracts will be around the additional research/validation of Avidimab . We'll have to wait and see, but it would be great if one of Scancell's posters was selected for oral presentation.

Crumbs agree, wonder whether the interest from BioNTech is related to mRNA vaccines which would obviously fit in better with their existing strategy and pipeline.?

Goodness knows why CH didn't mention the BioNTech collaboration in the business update RNS of 1st July. It was conspicuous by its absence but all he needed to do was add a quick one liner - collaboration ongoing.

A couple of points from AGM presentation slides:-

1) Looks like new patent was filed for homocitrullination/ Modi2 on 9th September.

2) Although they haven't yet dosed any SCIB1 patients, it's good to see that they have actually started screening patients.

3) Inanaco, re. TCRs , a complete guess but assume that health and safety approval is required around the containment of the lentivirus vectors for obvious reasons.

It's for new patients who would ordinarily be prescribed Keytruda as their standard of care treatment and have not received any other treatment for advanced disease. Keytruda is available on the NHS although not sure if it's still funded via the Cancer Drugs Fund.

The objective of the SCIB1 trial is to demonstrate synergy between SCIB1 and Keytruda. All you're doing is repeating in post after post the individual MOAs for Keytruda and SCIB1. We all hope and expect that the preclinical results will be replicated in humans in the clinic, BUT, BUT, BUT until that trial is carried out and the results are available it is not correct to say that it is proven and it is not right to downplay risk in any bio, no matter how promising.

This is the official version from Scancell, cleared by the regulators on the clinical trial register:-

'SCIB1 is considered experimental. SCIB1 has been given to melanoma patients in an earlier study. It was generally well tolerated, and researchers saw some signs that it may help to stimulate the immune system, which is a way in which the body can fight the cancer.'

I don't know why you keep posting that Keytruda has synergy with T cells. That is it's MOA.

Synergy - the combination of two substances to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects. . The SCIB1 trial is aiming to demonstrate synergy between SCIB1 and Keytruda. That is not proven in the clinic and it is completely wrong to suggest anything else.

Also Inanaco, do you truly, honestly believe that it's possible for any lay person to have sufficient understanding and access to all relevant research (not just that available via google) to be able to identify a mechanism of failure for any clinical trial?

I think re-engineering/modification of the Fc domain is quite common and by no means unique to Scancell but obviously the NUTAC team have developed a new modification.

The last time I looked at the glycan mAbs in any detail was when the CICON 2018 abstracts were published and in simple terms, my (very limited) understanding at the time was that the NUTAC team were getting great results in mice when targeting glycans but binding was poor in humans. They believed this was down to the humanising process.

As I understand it, the theory is that a part of the mouse antibody which is replaced during the humanisation process is actually needed to enable the antibody to bind well to the target. So they have re-engineered mAbs with a patch to mimic the missing mouse part and now believe they have mAbs which bind well.

As I say, that was over a year ago and just from memory so things may have moved on.
