Any tax experts out there ? I've been investing in TP for many years, one reason being that they are listed on the AIM Market and also the secondary market in Dublin, therefore they fall outside any Inheritance tax for UK investors. Does anyone know if they will retain this IHT status ? I assume not but hopefully someone might know of a loop hole.

The only issue could be if they dominated in any one product- ie Grapefruit for instance, had this questioned when Total bought 50% of Outpan South Africa. EU are particular about this.

Hi, yes a good read. Says it all really, Family commitment, some RNS notices of increased holding by major investors. The E-Coli thing is not unusual in the trade and will blow over. I cannot fathom the major drop in SP. I think its now a very safe long term investment. I thought before that they might have missed something in the Dole books but to be honest the McCanns are far to smart. It might be that this potential Banana problem might be factoring in. In any event I'm about to buy a few more. Good luck

I really don't understand this. They have have just released a very reasonable update. I'm in the trade and there are certainly no threatening problems that would be trade related. Weather this year has been a factor, but when is it not.
I just wonder if they have uncovered something dire within Dole- Total Management are superb at DD prior to investing but so many have fallen foul to a US investment. Long term, they will rule the produce world. Problem with topping up on the shares is the spread, its so inactive in general trade that whoever makes the market seems to to cover too much. Anyway good luck and eat more fruit !

I think the market analists are concerned about the potential Banana crisis. Its well known that the main variety
'Cavendish' has a risk of almost wipe out if a virus that is prevalent in the East makes it to Central and South America. The risk for Total being that Dole's turnover is 40% reliant on the Banana trade. Dole both grow and buy from other growers. Personally I think this risk will pass as scientists are rapidly developing new varieties to combat this virus. TP are a fantastic company, well run with a brilliant family at the top. Once the deal is finally fixed and the TP board get to grips with Dole's costs the SP will fly.

Actually they have just bought one of The USA's biggest mushroom producers. This makes just four products they have. Together with the 'Sister' company Total Produce, they are quietly becoming the dominate fresh produce company globally. If the share where not in a Families control this would be a ripe take over target.
