RE: Spit & Partners17 Nov 2020 22:38
Hey - I think everyone is reading wayyyy too much into this:
- looking at the edit history it just looks like the PR team have updated the COVID diagnostics page as we are approaching product launch
- you can view the edit history on 'wayback machine' (link below) and its been changed like 2-3 times since May, when the product was first announced. Much more is known now, strip backs and edits would make sense by this stage
- it's not just the part about saliva which has been deleted, the entire section has been overhauled
- compare and contrast the two texts: first two paras are same; the next two paragraphs - both BAMs & LFT - have been significantly shortened; there's a NEW paragraph discussing ELISA; last two paras the same.
- moreover, **the word count is the same** but broadly, more information is given **because now the ELISA test is on sale** - less detail is provided about BOTH the BAMS & LFT
- finally, to paraphrase: the section about 'looking for partners' has changed to 'we are moving very quickly, get in touch below'; so draw your own conclusions there ;)
As someone who has a fair bit of experience in PR/press-work/copy-writing sort of stuff, knowing what I know about the company: if I were to be tasked with refreshing the web presence ahead of greater press/commercial interest, I would do something like this.
I know we are all craving updates - I hope we get one soon - and it is useful to observe these small changes, but the obsession about the 'deeper meaning' this evening is likely misplaced, IMHO.
