Polymetal as a company will now grow stronger and more valuable as a company as a result of not paying a dividend in May. For those investors in for the longer haul it will actually reap (dividends lol), as it will enable Poly to reduce debts, pay increased costs and overall whether the current hurricane effecting the geo political climate effecting this company currently.
It will also decrease any likelihood of suspension and increase survivability. Furthermore if emerging with more assets will cause share price to rise further than previously due to the increased value.
Really is a case right now of tucking in the drawer till end June, and I'll wager a friendly pint with anyone here that you will be in for a very pleasant surprise.

Interesting thing with the current price verses the RNS dividend news today, if we look back at the two previous paid dividends the annual income is about the same as the number of shares you hold in pounds.. IE: 30K shares, £30,000 annual divi....a glorious amount especially if in an isa.

Fully understand the sound reasons for not devaluing the company today , and emphasises that this will be for many here, the best investment of your lives once peace restored.

I'm not overly surprised by the magnitude of this rebound because of these factors.
1. Big institutions don't buy on whim, when making serious transactions often have a meeting with other board members to discuss, especially with this stock, so deals unlikely to start until that's completed.
2. Poly's move today will cause suspension to be more unlikely as not seen to be rewarding those who speculate in any stocks that have some Russian participation. A big consideration factor for fund managers.
3. Safeguarding the company by not giving a generous dividend, gives much higher chances of long term survival and higher successes going forward. Another factor fund managers in for the long haul will like.

Mr. Putins aims are to "liberate the Donbas", clearly with current progress and troop intensification, I expect this might be achievable in the next three weeks. So throw in some time for talks and we might see things finishing in another month. Not much in investment terms, although on a day to day basis it does seem a long time.

Have to respectfully disagree with your comments that this is "just gambling",
When we gamble the odds are always in favour of the house, when investing in a stock like this the odds are most certainly in favour of the investor. Possibly not a short term trader, although I'm sure those that purchased at 2 quid today would disagree.. Lol.
However those in for a year or so will see this investment give stunning returns. Todays news strengthens the company it does not weaken it.

I'm not unduly worried by todays RNS, was expecting it in fact. I always viewed it as nice but unlikely. However there is a good silver lining here. By now paying the dividend this time, it satisfies those who might say "its got Russian links so should be suspended". As those that might support those links (investors here), will not be rewarded in May with huge payoffs.
That's actually a very big thing and keeping the cash safeguards the company, till the troubles are over.
Clearly the short term traders and dealers wont be happy today as is quite apparent, but those that take a longer viewpoint will be.

Yep you can bet many would give their eye teeth for such a juicy poly contract, especially if being short notice may attract a premium if other work has to be delayed.

Sometimes it does take a tragic loss of lives to resolve an issue. Taking an impartial overview, things have moved on significantly in the past two weeks alone. The Russian reduction in interest rates from 20 to 17 percent sends out a couple of messages. They are clearly confident that the run on the rouble is over, and directionally pointing towards lowering of rates that were hiked recently. Good news for poly. Trying to cripple the economy won’t easily work while large countries like India have agreed to increase their buying of Russian oil 15 fold due to discount offered. Hate it or love it it’s a matter of fact.

I hear guys saying "no it will never return to those levels", actually I'd respectfully disagree gents because of a couple of facts.
Nearly 80% of big institutional holders have not sold..they hold for growth and divi and purchased stock in double figures.
Company wants to regain previous status ASAP, and its mines etc are working very well indeed.
Just a little downside from higher interest rates in some quarters but easily managed with current cashflow.
Huge and ongoing demand for the companies products.
Quite frankly I believe anyone whos been topping up or buying to hold over the last couple of weeks is going to be nicely rewarded by late summer. Many will view this as their "life changing investment" . If anyone can tell me where I can get better with less risk please say.??

It goes against the grain but is the sound investment move, to buy when the price falls. So many times we see the opposite happen, investors getting worried because it dips down a bit. Well I've topped up today again and will continue the practice on any weakness. Future dividends in what I'm actually after and the returns are superb.

I know many are shocked to see some of the Ukrainian footage coming out, however its important to note that peace talks are continuing and last week some real progress was achieved. Clearly still got to take it with a big pinch of salt but things are moving in the right direction however harsh the road becomes.

yep quite a few trades around the 6280 region going in, quite a lot of guys filling those isa's already with transfers I see.

They are steadily raising the bid all the time, while letting the offer jump all over the place... The mm's seem to want our stock pretty desperately at the moment.
